There are a few shows I've finished watching that were cancelled (Lie to Me, The Unit, OT, Army Wives) in which they have subplots that remain unresolved leaving those parts a cliffhanger never having a conclusion, even if they tried their best to provide closure that doesn't come off as being rushed. For parts left unresolved, the only thing one can do is create fanfiction on assuming how it'll end if the show itself is cancelled never to be rebooted.

The Expanse.

Lost, but it wasn't cancelled. jj abrams just sucks at explaining all the mystery boxes that he likes to set up. What the fuck is up with the smoke monster?

Archive 81.

Yet another victim of Netflix.

American Gods is one that always trips me out, they just kind of left the main character hanging out on a limb so to speak.

I will never forgive them for cancelling Inside Job after renewing it for another season. Or for cancelling The Owl House, but that at least had time for a 3 episode wrap up season.

My Name is Earl ended on cliff hanger but at least the creator explained his plans on an interview

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Also a quick background line in his next show "Raising Hope".

Dark Matter from SyFy is my out there recommendation.

Carnivàle hinted at a grand multi-season arch during season 2. There was no season 3.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

And that one finally got a good stride.

1899 comes to mind in a big way.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago

This does my head in. It was one of the most popular shows on Netflix at release, yet they cancelled it. What are Netflix hoping for? They've ended up with a catalog of shows that started and never finished, so nobody is going to bother watching them now. What a waste.

1899 is part of the reason I cancelled Netflix

Westworld, Infinity Train, Firefly, Caprica.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

Ohhh, caprica. That one was also figuring itself out, finally.

[–] neuracnu@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 15 hours ago

Pouring one out for Infinity Train.

And sure, Westworld too.

People of Earth

This is a very fun show, I wish they went 1 more season.

[–] Skavau@piefed.social 2 points 12 hours ago

Brave New World, Warrior, The Peripheral, Constellation, 1983, 1989. Too many.

Babylon 5, Firefly, Stargate Universe, and Limitless. Not even just subplots, but the main one as well.

[–] rozodru@piefed.world 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The problem with Babylon 5 is they shouldn't have made that spin off series.

Babylon 5 was always supposed to be 5 seasons. that's it. no more. But for whatever reason TNT were like "ok, lets do a spin-off post B5" which just wasn't that great to begin with. B5 itself wrapped up nicely IMHO. Crusade was...yeah I'm sorry but I don't think it needed to happen. They could have dealt with the Drakh stuff in another movie. Plus there was conflicts with that show before it even got off the ground. TNT wanted a show with more "sex and violence" while JMS didn't. TNT also wasn't thrilled with actually making it since they said people who watched B5 didn't watch anything else on TNT and people who watched TNT on the regular didn't watch B5.

there was a spinoff???
