I’m so very fucking done with Rogan. I was before, too, but I still am now. It baffles me how that idiot gained such an unbelievably huge following. The fact that he did, and furthermore probably had a real impact on the election results, doesn’t imply anything positive for my countrymen 🫩

mitch hedberg wrote the joke in the second sentence of your post.

i was acknowledging that to you, who i assumed would be in on the joke and who would appreciate my recognition of it.

i guess i was wrong.

be well, internet stranger.

I like escalators because they are never broken, they just become stairs.

(I probably fucked that up)

[-] edible_funk@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Sorry for the convenience!

[-] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 months ago

Your view of him now is consistent with how he was viewed during Fear Factor.

There's always been an audience for that type.

[-] tyler@programming.dev 4 points 2 months ago

wait, he's from fear factor???

[-] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 months ago

Yup. He even did stand up for a bit.

[-] Unrefined@anarchist.nexus 3 points 2 months ago

I remember him from NewsRadio, where he was actually awesome.

[-] edible_funk@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

You mean where he played a comically stupid conspiracy theorist?

[-] inmate_p01135809@lemmy.world 52 points 2 months ago

I watched a few minutes of one of his podcasts once to see what the big deal was. Rogan is a definition of a tool.

[-] 1egg4u@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

I genuinely never understood it. He makes me feel more stupid.

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 7 points 2 months ago
[-] DaleGribble88@programming.dev 9 points 2 months ago

He never said that he recovered from the experience :(

[-] 1egg4u@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Hey i never said I wasnt already stupid :')

[-] can@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 months ago

Undoubtedly. Ten years ago it was easier to ignore when he had an interesting guest. He's been riding that momentum.

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 months ago

a long time ago, a new coworker told me he listened to it. I checked out a few episodes. they were shit and made me question the coworker. I searched for episodes with guests I'd be interested in. those episodes were also shit.

my opinion of that coworker was definitely strongly affected by how they regularly listened to Joe Rogan. that, and the fact that their work kind of sucked

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 months ago

If only he didn't wield all of that power

[-] RuthYGK@lemmy.ca 35 points 2 months ago

Joe Rogan was pals with the Tate brothers. I have no idea how anyone just excused that and watched his deep as a puddle questioning.

[-] kibblebits@quokk.au 26 points 2 months ago

Yes, but they like Hitler.

[-] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago

Joe Rogan's friends are only like, 10 years slow on the uptake

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 20 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

oh, roegan, you dont get to backout of the situation you caused. you were primarly responsible for convincing men to vote for trump by luring them into the manosphere. stick to UFC and only talk about MMA.

[-] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago

Honestly, the way Kylinski talked about the Graham Platner accusers, both before and after the one he believed, puts him in the exact same camp as these Roegan dbags. Just another white misogynistic dudebro going "bitches be lyin". I'm glad that apparently everyone is stating the obvious about American fascism, but that is really the bare minimum to be taken seriously.

[-] compostgoblin@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Oh man, he’s doing that shit now? Damn, you hate to see it. I outgrew him years ago, but he was influential in stopping me from falling down the alt right pipeline a decade ago and was my on ramp to progressive politics

[-] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I'm sorry friend. I went down the same road, way back in the day with Christopher Dawkins. His book God Delusion got me out of my parents religious BS which was the starting point of my life improving. Now he is just yet another garden variety bigot.

(oh god and fucking gaiman) 🤮

But yeah, here is a video with clips if you wanna see for yourself. He wasn't the only glazing but Kyle's particularly brzaen glee, before and after he realized he was wrong, is just disgusting.

[-] compostgoblin@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 months ago

Ugh, yeah, Dawkins. I remember leaving the God Delusion out when I was a teenager so my parents knew I was reading it and rebelling lol

Life really is just continually being let down by white men you once thought were cool, huh?

[-] Janx@piefed.social 11 points 2 months ago

That's nice. We were doing that before they elected him...

[-] switcheroo@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

We need to stop talking about Rogan. He's a putz.

And the correct term is Shitler. Dump = Shitler

[-] EnchiladaRaisins@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago

I just call him the asshole, since he wants to be seen as an absolute dictator.

[-] Sgt_choke_n_stroke@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Liking trump now turned cringe, that's the only reason these knuckle draggers are speaking out.

I wouldn't even want work out advice from them. They shouldn't even be taken seriously ever.

[-] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 7 points 2 months ago

Yeah, man. Everyone with a room temperature IQ saw it the first time he ran.

[-] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 4 points 2 months ago

That's not a bug to the worst of society; It's a feature.

[-] axus@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

How many months until the Reichstag explodes?___

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

Never heard of Kulinski and probably better off for it.

[-] 4am@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 months ago

If you hate political commentary then sure I guess, but he was one of the founders of Justice Democrats in 2017, so at least he’s trying.

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 2 points 2 months ago

Alright, I will look him up. Thanks for the info. Most influencer types are not worth the time.

[-] Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 months ago

He isnt either. Havent watched him for some time, but apparently he is into rehabilitating rapists and torturers (graham platner) now

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

I’m glad that people learned, but I’m worried that it might be too late. For some, it already is.
