For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

I don't understand. What's ironic about a socialist opening some city owned grocery stores?

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 170 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nothing in the slightest, Musk is just a dumbass with more money than any human should have.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 44 points 1 week ago (4 children)

He’s also got less sense than I thought a human was capable of, which is saying something, if he was smart he’d have fucked off after PayPal like Tom did when he sold MySpace

[–] scutiger@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wait, Tom is gone? He was a friend of mine!

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 12 points 1 week ago

Tom was and remains all of our friends, he left so it would be that way

The irony is that Musk, self-proclaimed super genius, doesn't know what irony is while calling things ironic.

he would like the days when children return to the precious stone mines in South africa.

I had to sink to the lowest level but I think the perceived irony is that a socialist is opening a store which some people think is inherently capitalist

In his empty head, there might be some connection to the Conservative Propaganda about people starving under Socialism, vs a Socialist opening grocery stores, and we're supposed to see that as "Irony," rather than popping a hole in their "Socialists Starve People" trope.

He's just not smart enough, or sober enough, to follow the mental path beyond "Har, har, look at this Socialist with food, har, har. Ironic, huh?"

[–] laserm@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (3 children)

it apparently requires an ID for.. something..

It’s been clarified that you won’t need an id to buy. It would be more akin to a loyalty card. Seems they want to use it to track usage patterns and cut off scalpers.

Ah, I see. And he's saying it's ironic for them to require an ID when they are against people having to show their ID at the polls. Right?

Remember when the World Food Program showed Musk he could solve world hunger for a mere fraction of his wealth andyet he's still here trying to dunk on people trying to put food on tables?

Musk is such a fucking waste of oxygen. This is how he tricks people into thinking he isn't as dumb as a lobotomized sunfish. He smugly says a bunch of bullshit just vague enough to fool other idiots into playing along because they want to feel smart too. There's nothing ironic about the news story he referenced. He's a fucking moronic narcissist who hears something and without even bothering to process the information immediately assumes he understands it on a level beyond everyone else. And if you press him on it even slightly he'll just say you have a tiny brain or call you a pedophile or some shit.

He’s one of the biggest douchebags on Earth. Once people stop buying from and listening to him, we’ll be so much better off.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 17 points 1 week ago (5 children)

That's the thing though. No one does buy anything from him and he's still a trillionaire because it's all theoretical. If he was forced to actually come up with the money he couldn't.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 week ago

All market capitalization values are theoretical, and his is inflated the most. However. Tesla still sells a bunch of cars unfortunately. And SpaceX's value is mostly propped up by StarLink, plus the playing with rockets side of it gets juicy government contracts

What is the irony? That he thinks the original plan was to give away food for free then they realized they have to charge something? I'm pretty sure charging something was always the plan just not with the intent of a for profit model.

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I've been trying to figure out,... my conclusion is that he doesn't know what irony means

He is too thick to recognize that extreme measures like this are necessary in no small part due to his and his peers’ greed.

There’s another solution that doesn’t involve socialism, but they are forcing it upon us by their own actions. That’s what’s ironic.

Elon Musk literally bragged that if anyone could prove $6B could end world hunger, he'd spend it. UN was, like, yeah. He, of course, dropped the conversation right then and there.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 18 points 1 week ago

Yeah but can you imagine the humiliation if it didn't work and he accidentally just saved millions of lives without getting rid of 100.0% of the problem?

I don't see the problem. I'd rather people be able to afford to eat and feed their families.

Anyone who has a problem with affordable groceries, in a period of time where the cost of living outweighs being able to afford groceries; can go fuck themselves with a rusty Trident.

Financial obesity is an existential threat to any society that tolerates it, and needs to cease being celebrated, rewarded, and positioned as an aspirational goal.

Corporations are the only ‘persons’ which should be subjected to capital punishment, but trillionaires should be forced to transition into billionaires, and billionaires should be euthanised through taxation.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

If you could ask Musk what is ironic about this situation, he couldn't tell you. Because he doesn't know the definition of "irony".

They set up a loyalty program like you would have for any grocery store, which helps with inventory control, and these people think it's an ID verification system.

Are we legally allowed to pray to St. Luigi in regards to Musk? I hope similar actions can happen.
