i really like to customize and theme android, but it feels like basically all of the big boy apps are closed source and probably track the living shit out of you

any apps that are FOSS and doesn't steal my data?

NOTE: im not paying for anything, i know that disqualifies alot of apps but i just want something free

You must be running Android 14 or newer which uses the Material You style. There, you have the option to customize the color of your apps based on your wallpaper. You can also use ColorBlendr to select any color you like, independent of your wallpaper colors. It needs either root or Shizuku. If you are rooted you can have a more granular control over the UI elements being themed. If you only use Shizuku, you are more limited. However Shizuku is easier to use.

If you search launcher on f-droid there's quite a few.

Is that what you mean? Or something else?

no? its kinda hard to explain and i dont know exactly what im looking for but like something that changes ui elements that isnt an icon pack or launcher

[–] Krusty@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There's launchers for that.

Otherwise your UI elements are probably going to be application specific and to be able to theme those you would need an application support for that built in.

ah okay, but is there something other than icon packs and launchers? just something

You still have not explained what part of the UI you're trying to customize. Or for which apps. There's a lot of apps out there that support themes... But it's an individual basis sort of thing.

my bad, i was thinking something that makes basically everything (not really apps) glassy and transparent and stuff ykyk

The only kind of app that has the ability to change UI element appearances are launchers. So you'd need to use a whole new launcher to theme the UI.
