With almost all votes counted, Demuth was more than 45,000 votes ahead of Lindell, who had the backing of Donald Trump, beating him by 43.4% to 32.5%.

Businessman Kendall Qualls, backed by the Republican state party, was trailing in third.

Told by a reporter on his own streaming channel, LindellTV, that the AP had declared the race over, Lindell dismissed the wire service outright. Asked why he wouldn’t accept the call, he questioned the AP’s authority to determine the outcome and insisted hundreds of thousands of votes remained uncounted.

“I’m not going to give up this race until the votes are counted,” Lindell said. “That’s nonsense.”

Of course not. Denial of reality is pretty much his whole brand.

[-] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 49 points 3 weeks ago

I think he was probably more sane when he was a drug addict.

[-] joe@lemmy.world 32 points 3 weeks ago

Do we have reason to believe he isn't still a drug addict?

[-] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 weeks ago

Definitely not on anything good.

[-] meco03211@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago

Hey now. It's not the drug's fault that some dipshit used them. It might be a perfectly good drug.

A rich dude who still chooses to huff gas and paint even though he could be smoking the best heroin, crack, or meth that exists.

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 weeks ago

He is not rich at all. He is in incredible debt after losing a bunch of lawsuits because of all the lying he does.

[-] charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 weeks ago

Eureka. That explains all the gas and paint hufffing

[-] ulkesh@piefed.social 11 points 3 weeks ago

Denial of reality is pretty much ~~his~~ all Republicans' whole brand.

[-] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 76 points 3 weeks ago

It's pathetic that this is the new normal for one of the major parties. Acting like deranged toddlers and leaning heavily on a bullshit reason whenever their fee-fees get hurt by the fact that most people don't want them in a position of power.

Aside from your toxic, brain-damaged cult members, everyone fucking hates you Lindell!!! Grab a fucking clue and go back full time to making shit sleeping products!

[-] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 weeks ago

Hell maybe he wants a lawsuit and to try to get a hold of the election machines so they can rig the midterm for Republicans....

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Nope, nope, it's all a CONSPIRACEE, you see!!!11

[-] Canconda@lemmy.ca 45 points 3 weeks ago

So now the republicans are rigging their own elections??

Okay pillow boy.

[-] artyom@piefed.social 27 points 3 weeks ago

Of course he's not. We live in an attention economy and The Guardian is paying him.

[-] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

It's a hell of a lot more likely the opposite is true...

[-] hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip 17 points 3 weeks ago

“The election was rigged!” LOL

[-] ryrybang@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago

It's not even that conspiratorial. It's even more stupid. It's "the GOP primary, organized and administered by my own GOP party, so that the GOP party can pick their candidate to run in the general election, is...rigged!!11!!1!1"

[-] mercano@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

How could the God-Emperor abandon his most loyal servant, Mike Lindell, though?

He’s oddly always left this guy high and dry and idiot Lindell just keeps coming back for more.

[-] Blibly@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago

Cool. We don't need a concession. Just move on and ignore the loser.

[-] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

LOL, you lost by over 11%. You aren't getting a recount or a second thought. 🤣

[-] itsgroundhogdayagain@lemmy.ml 8 points 3 weeks ago

He needs time to prepare the fundraiser for his election fraud lawsuit.

[-] 1orangecat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 weeks ago

STDs don't concede, they just keep coming back for more.

[-] MushuChupacabra@piefed.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Just let the poor guy make an ass out of himself, as it's the only thing he's good at, and the only thing he has left.

[-] einlander@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

That split is far too close.

[-] 100_kg_90_de_belin@feddit.it 4 points 3 weeks ago

Lindell built his political career on the claim that Trump’s 2020 defeat was the product of a rigged and stolen election, spending what he has said were tens of millions of dollars pursuing that conspiracy theory through lawsuits, documentaries and conferences, even as courts repeatedly threw it out.

So, it's either lunacy or money laundering, isn't it?

[-] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

I mean, meth doesn’t concede, that’s the whole modus operandi of meth.
