Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

That they are inexperienced and naive. Unless they have a massive inheritance to fall back on or something.

What they truly want is more time with family and not to sell their soul and time to corporate interests which most of us also want. But tying yourself helplessly to another person, sexually, is very dangerous.

I had that experience for over a decade. I wanted it. My personal experience is disastrous. I could be one of those who are anti-tradwife speakers. Tradwife is perfect niche for psycho narcissistic sociopath men. Even if I am stay at home mom now, maintained by partner,I am putting aside as much as possible to not rely "just in case" things go south.
By staying at home,it doesn't mean all house duties are on my shoulders, hell no. Homeschooling is already consuming massive energy and I wish to have MY TIME moments.
However, I thing it's a massive trap for regular women. Unless there is prenup of yearly payments from partner, financial acknowledgement of pregnancy/birth/post partum/ breastfeeding/childcare ect, I am bot playing it. I like @Yada awakening account on social media, I truly believe that this is only conscious way to be tradwife.

Sometimes I see posts like "feminists spent generations trying to get us to have jobs and education when #tradlife is literal paradise" and just get depressed.

Honestly I would feel bad for calling it "regressive" or "in lack of personality," if it wasn't a political trend disguised as hobby.

As long as everyone enthusiastically consents, they should get to live the life they want.

However, I have a suspicion the idyllic tradwife lifestyle only exists on social media, in content pushed into our feeds because controversy drives engagement.

I can't stand it. I was raised Christian but no longer believe in it. My mom was a teacher but she did listen to a lot of Christian radio programing in the car so I got exposed to a lot of the ultra Christian nationalist way of thinking at an early age, along with a ton of gospel music. Thankfully, my mom wasn't on board with a lot of the more extreme talking points and would regular point out how dumb a lot of their ideas were, saying that it basically boiled down to "controlling the females" as she would say.

The fact that Nara Smith is now trying to push back on the trade wife image she's constructed for herself is bananas.

Much like religion - I’ll fight tooth and nail to ensure you have the freedoms to choose that life if you want, but I want it as far away from me as possible.

Tradewives are distinct from stay-at-home parents in that they preach and proselytize their way of life and leave very little room for individualism and expression. There’s a reason so many of them online are white, blonde, and have as many children as possible. It’s a political movement.

My friend told me the other day how he’s getting fed video reels of tradwives and how the white race is disappearing. A clear push for him to want this type of life, to settle down and have children and keep a woman at home for his every need. It’s wild to see sometimes.

Thanks for saying my feelings way better than I did lol.

If they're real tradwives … I do not police what choices other women make. If someone wants to live the traditional life with women relegated to home support only, more power to them. It's not a choice I'd make, but 🤷‍♀️ different strokes. I'm sure they'd be horrified at the lifestyle I lived for most of my adult life (poly and pan).

The performative tradwives, however, are, as @Hildegard@lemmy.blahaj.zone pointed out, essentially grifters. They're playacting as tradwives to cater to a regressive base to make a living. They are actively damaging to women.

There's one other aspect you didn't mention. The coerced trad wife

[–] ZDL@lazysoci.al 9 points 1 day ago

Are there any? I guess there would have to be. We are talking the basement troll segment of the population.

Every tradwife influencer monitizes their chamnels, which means the wife has an income too so they're not a real tradwife. Everything is fake!

I like the concept of tradwifes, in the sense that I think every couple should be able to live in a house, afford to live comfortably, and raise children on a single income alone. Its not economically viable for basically anyone.

I would love to be able to be a transbian tradwife. Staying at home doing nothing but caring for the house and my two and a half children. While my wife, the other wife in the household, goes to work as the sole breadwinner as is her duty as the other wife.

Unfortunately I have to have a job too, which is bad.

Absolutely agree. I'd like to know how many trad wives actually live a subservient lifestyle. I'd also like to know who ends up with tradwife media in their feed, if it's men or women.

This right here.

EVERY "tradwife" influencer is a grifter. It's playacting to the regressive base. They repulse me at the deepest possible level.

I don't think anyone should be completely dependent on another, including for retirement. I feel sad for people who are and don't have any other plan. Hopefully it all works out because if it doesn't, that's really hard for them.

If everyone is consenting, good for them. The minute they try to force their views and wants on me, I'm going to be angry.

[–] LavaPlanet@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

See that's the thing I wonder. Can people actually consent to that, and I would suggest the people who do consent are coerced into consenting. They're broken people who feel they'll be accepted if they meet expectations set for them by predatory people. It's absolutely designed to extract free labour from women and lower their contributive value in relationships. It's not the same as one parent choosing to stay home and caretake. It's entirely a system almost (if not entirely) identical to an abusive relationship, once they're trapped, entirely dependent with no escape and no access to finances, what does their environment start to look like? I feel like the entire system is legitimising more abusive relationships. Blurring the lines. Blurred lines and consent that can't be revoked, is not consent, that's coercion in and of itself, even without the other factors. I can't imagine they're offered a safe option to entirely reverse the situation. It's one of those things built into a system to slowly errode women's rights around the edges. Because fascism can't exist without oppression, this feels like selling oppression to people who are vulnerable.

Yeah that's kind of my opinion too.

I really dislike the influencers and people pushing it as a moral imperative. But I think it is handy to have any parent stay at home to manage the house and care for the kiddos.
