What I want to know is, how much cream and sugar can you add before it cancels out the positive effects?
You do you, but if you feel like you need to add additives to your coffee to make it palatable, might I suggest finding a better quality coffee.
Good question. No cream is better:

I know! I stopped putting cream and sugar in mine years ago when I realized that. I still do milk and cinnamon though.
Well, that depends on context. If you are drinking coffee before going to the gym adding sugar would even increase it's positive effects (although complex carbs like cluster dextrin would of course be preferable over sugar)
Personally I'd believe that there is a strong correlation between healthy/reasonable living, and coffee consumption. White collar workers suffer less physical strain, and coffee consumption seems to offset sugary drink consumption (something about coffee reducing appetite perhaps?)
Caffeine is common to both.

someone better tell my fat ass, because it clearly didn't get the memo.

Does it matter if the coffee is decaf or caf?
Surprisingly there is a inverse relationship in dementia risk. Normal coffe has lower and Decaffeinated has a slightly higher risk. Source
Maybe it's like tea where the other compounds curb the effects of caffeine. So decaf would stunt you long term.
He says it's really unclear why this is happening. It might be that people who already have some health problems stop drinking caffeinated and switch to decaf. But it's clear that caffeine in tea and coffe is healthy with the greatest effect of up to ~3 cups.
oh, it's just correlation. Honestly us human jump to so many conclusions that I feel like the only things we can begin to trust are peer reviewed evidence of causation.

Correlation, likely not causation. Lifestyle, etc.
Coffee is the only way I take in water! Other than that I might drink 2 or 3 bottles a year.

I can’t stand water by itself. I’m old and retired and it’s worked out so far.
