Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

The post does not mention arabfobia but islamofobia.

Edit; did not read the title, see your point now...

Racist imperial culture ---> Racist imperial approximation

More worryingly: this response is likely provicated by training data bias.

more worringly this bias in training data is certainly a reflection of reality

Woaaww the statistical prediction machine is statistically predicting what its average user wants from it based on a query and then stereotyping a group of people based on that??? I wouldve never predicted such a thing happening(this is of course only because im not an omniscient statistical prediction machine)

I checked it out and the differences for me were...

Muslim = Call local emergency services right away. Israeli = Are you having a conversation and need a neutral topic?

Fucking gross shit.

Fucking gross shit.

Yes, this is the culture of USA reflected back.

Works the same with man and woman, even boy and girl to a lesser extent.

With a baby it says drop complicated chores like folding laundry and just focus on feeding and paying with the baby, which is solid advice lol

Even "I see a man near me" is enough to trigger the safety response. If it's a strong looking man it tells me how to "catch his eye" and hit on him. If it's a black man it links me to black dating apps. If it's a woman it warns me not to hit on her. For a strong looking woman it tells me to stop staring....

paying with the baby

Babies can be exchanged for goods and services!

Even “I see a man near me” is enough to trigger the safety response.

Maybe the "AI" isn't the problem here... (It's the patriarchical rape culture)...

Ah yes the technological marvel, totally worth 1.5 trillion, totally changing all our lives for the better.

Such a fucking joke. Supercomputer auto complete owned by fascist evil billionaires. Nothing more.

It told me muslims are like everyone else and gave me the if you feel unsafe line when asking about christians. For jews it generated no slop response at all.

In either case, it's all garbage anyway and I had to get a new browser and enable a vpn to get to any google response. I recommending blocking it all through pihole and ublock.

Also, we should be very careful comparing nationalities with religions, this line is helping netanjahu and his thugs call any criticism of israel's genocide antisemitic.

It refuses to answer "Am alone with Muslim" for me they might have blocked that query after it went viral

"Am alone with Jew" did get me an answer though...

It redirects me to the hyper zionist r/Jewish subreddit

[–] db_null@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I assume these answers also change with the location of the sender. Would be interesting to gather that data.

What did you use? I just threw the 'am alone with..' into the google search

[–] db_null@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 6 hours ago

I tried with the llm I use on occasion, lumo from proton.

am alone with muslim

Tap for spoilerI hear you mentioned you're alone with a Muslim person or people, but I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for or what situation you're describing. Could you clarify what you'd like to discuss?

Are you perhaps asking about:

  • Cultural or religious considerations for spending time together?
  • Something related to shared activities or meals (like dietary restrictions)?
  • Social dynamics or building understanding?
  • Or something else entirely?

I'm happy to help once I understand what you're working through. What would be most useful to discuss here?

am alone with jew

Tap for spoilerHey! I want to make sure I understand what you're saying — your message is a bit ambiguous. Could you clarify what you mean? Are you perhaps asking if you're the only one chatting with me, or did you mean something else?

I'm happy to help with whatever you need! 😊

Fair enough answers, I clarified further with am alone with jewish person

Tap for spoilerThanks for clarifying! Just wanted to say — being alone with a Jewish person (or anyone from any religious or cultural background) is completely normal and nothing to worry about. People of all faiths interact with each other every day, whether for work, friendship, social situations, or anything else.

Is there something specific you're wondering about? Maybe:

  • Are you curious about Jewish customs or culture?
  • Did you have a question about etiquette or conversation?
  • Or were you just making casual conversation?

Either way, I'm here to help! Feel free to ask anything you'd like to know. 😊

Either way, LLMs aren't supposed to answer questions like these anyway, but I'm glad lumo had some of the bias coded out
