Roooooots! Bloody rooooooooots!
I'm a 100% intellectual scumbag , this and Quadra are my favourite Sepultura albums because I miss Sepultura's artistic point of existence entirely and like Prog metal and Metal fusion with other genres.
I mean, they're fucking amazing albums. What's not to like, if you like metal at all?
The calavera brothers are more about downtuned guitars and grooves, and by having my favourite Sepultura albums' musical centerpieces being Brazilian Tribal music and a potpourri of modern and progressive metal styles, I feel like I miss the point of the musical expression purpose of the band.
Fair enough!
We dig what we dig, you dig?
I reckon it's akin to any band that shifts their style for a given reason. Metallica is an okay example. After AJFA, they changed. A lot tbh. But even AJFA was a big shift from their first three. So it makes sense that someone deep into thrash and what thrash is about would be less into the band's later stuff. And I don't think that's missing a point. It's just being into something specific rather than excluding something else.
yep. Just being upfront about my own biases and being in the "wrong".

Welcome to Album Artwork Heaven — a cozy corner of Lemmy dedicated to celebrating the visual side of music! 🎶🖼️
This community is all about sharing, discovering, and appreciating album covers, music-related artwork, and the creative design that brings sound to life through imagery. Whether it’s vintage vinyl sleeves, modern digital art, obscure indie releases, or iconic classics — if it’s beautiful, striking, or just plain weird, it belongs here.
Very Loose Rules:
- Keep it music-related – Posts should feature album art, cover art, or artwork directly tied to a musical release (EPs, singles, mixtapes, etc. count too!).
- Be respectful – No hate speech, harassment, or spam. Critique art, not people.
- Credit when possible – If you know the artist, designer, or band, please mention them! (But don’t worry if you’re not sure.)
- No NSFW without tagging – If an album cover contains nudity please mark it as NSFW.
- Have fun and share generously! – This is a low-pressure zone for art and music lovers. Re-posts are fine, obscure gems are encouraged, and enthusiasm is always welcome.
Come for the covers, stay for the sonic stories behind them. 🎧✨
