While I'm not holding my breath, I've been waiting for Texas to turn for most of my life. This year is the best shot we've ever had.

I can't imagine voting for piss baby all 3 times. I can't relate to these people.

I’ll believe it when i see it. These are the same conservatives who keep re-electing Ted Cruz.

Even if they would just stay home/abstain, it would make a difference.

Not sure why you think this is the best chance we’ve had to turn blue. There have been far better candidates in the past than Hinojosa and Talarico.

It's not just about the candidates, it's also the political environment they exist within. Trump is actively hamstringing Republicans with his unending fascist bullshit and immaculate talent for failure, and the DSA is invigorating turnout for Democrats. Talarico is also going up against Paxton, a man despised even among Conservatives. Talarico himself is eloquent without sounding too heady for rural ~~idiots~~ folk.

All of those things combined give us one of the best chances to flip Texas. If any one of those pieces was missing, as they have in the past, I think the "Texas is a red state" mentality would win over common sense, but we are fortunate to have this shitstorm brought about by one of the most inept and corrupt individuals to ever hold the office of the presidency.

I'm taking solace in the fact that this is drawing resources from other races and might contribute to some wins elsewhere. I am predicting a Cruz-over-Beto margin for Senate and a few more points than that in the Governor's race. Not exactly hot takes, I know, but I've been burned so many ties in the last twenty years.

I will absolutely be voting, though. It's also always important to remember that even in "blowout" national elections, there are still 4 blue voters here for every 5 red. That's a lot of people who don't deserve to have their home get worse and worse.

they need to and they need to leave the republican party. Its a traitorous party that willfully violated the constitution at all levels. Conservatives. Real conservatives who actually can think and look at real conservative values that could be seen before reagan and nixon. they need to form a new party. the republicans have completely trashed their brand and libertarians are tarnished as well. they need something brand spanking new that can manage to keep their principles. this election is the last chance to regain america since the usa effectively stopped being when its not run by the consitution.
