the reply is correct, but the analogy is dumb when you consider the fact that some people's "birthday cake" is the size of texas and california put together, and having 10% of that much all to yourself is still a fucking obscene amount of cake

meanwhile millions of other people, who weren't invited to the party, are literally living on crumbs. while we're told they're the ones who are a drain on the system

This but unironically. A recent How Money Works video explained how big tech laid off a bunch of techs and developers only to find they couldn't run their businesses anymore and had to hire them back.

Why'd they lay them off in the first place? Pure vindictiveness and resentment. During the Great Resignation the workers got a taste of class consciousness and dared to bargain for higher pay and better benefits and working conditions.

Upper management are so greedy and self involved they can't even upper-manage right.

I mean I would be down for it for billionaires, but they throw a fit if you expect them to pay the same rate as someone making 30k a year.

During the post-war boom in the 1950s and 1960s the highest taxable bracket was in the 90% range.

Mind you you had to make a lot of money, and only income earned above the previous brackets were taxed at such a high rate.

At the time capital gains were also taxed as income.

Then Reagan came, (re-)introduced supply-side (trickle down) economics, lowered upper bracket rates and started the K-shaped economy.

Yeah, but no one actually paid that. There were so many carve outs and loop holes back in the day that the average wealthy person paid just a little more than they are supposed to now around 40%

The big difference now is the availability of tax free loans based on stock equity.
