This is what happens naturally when elected leaders ignore who they are supposed to represent. People don't get this angry without a reason. They are unheard.

There's a very simple thing the leaders need to do. Listen and act in their constituents interests.

Doesn’t matter which way they vote, they’re getting attacked. When your populace is split, what are you supposed to do?

Who's sending them death threats for not persuing data centers projects? Elon Musk?

More generally, a politician who upsets their voters this much is a failed politician. Even when the populace is split, you can find things that they agree on and work towards that.

The article gives only one example that I can find, and it reeks of "the opposition is threatening us and so we should ignore them". Their example of the threats against the Marshall City Council members was dropped because the police "did not identify sufficient evidence" that a crime had been committed.
