Good time to get a bidet folks

[-] Zombie@feddit.uk 14 points 1 week ago

Until the water wars begin

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

A bidet and stack of handkerchief for drying. Lint free and water washed is 1000x better than dry paper wiping "peanut butter" off

[-] plateee@piefed.social 9 points 1 week ago

I love my bidet. I upgraded to one with warm water and a dryer. Massive quality of life improvement for a relatively low cost per use.

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Is unheated even an option?

[-] plateee@piefed.social 7 points 1 week ago

Yup. My first one was just an analog dial that split the intake water. I was renting a town home and couldn't put in a GFCI outlet close enough to the toilet.

Let me tell you, it definitely woke me up in the morning.

[-] Switorik@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

I started with a fancy electric one. A power surge broke something and it heated up to the point where it was extremely hot to the touch. The company wouldn't warranty it because I had it for barely over a year.

I went with non powered one next and the difference is unnoticeable.

Not only an option. Extremely cheap too. Like $20-$50. I'm considering an electric one, but mainly because of the dryer. The cold water doesn't bother me at all. Though, I'm sure once I had heated I probably wouldn't want to go back to unheated.

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I must say, You guys are making me seriously consider a bidet since the thing that stopped me the most was the difficulty of hooking it up to warm water.

[-] kn33@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah, it's not bad on just cold

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Just... don't crank the pressure. 🫣

[-] Grabthar@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

If you aren't blasting every last fart truffle out of your turd snapper with the watery equivalent of a jackhammer, are you really even clean?

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

You meant Grabthar's hammer, ofc.

A heated bidet is why I can't bring myself to "shit on company time", and wait instead until I'm home again, so I get those few rejuvenating moments of a spa treatment.

[-] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

I use a cold only bidet at home and it’s amazing, even in winter (I do keep the house at 23°C all year tho)

[-] VibeSurgeon@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

Believe it or not, yes. I have quite cold water in my cold water lines, especially during the Swedish winter, and have no trouble using my bidet year round.

You just don't have that much temperature sensation there.

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

My testicles are very close to my bum and I know from experience in swimming pools that they are quite sensitive to cold water, thank you very much.

[-] VibeSurgeon@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

They are reasonably close for me as well, they do get a bit splashed when using the bidet.

It's really not that bad.

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

You'd be aiming the bidet way off-target, if that's the worry.

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

I'd be aiming blind, and as I get older I find my balls have a knack for finding the water as it is.

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Don't fret, I had a flatmate back in college who's girlfriend drunkenly mentioned at one of our parties that his touched the water when he sat on the toilet —and his reaction to this was more proof than anyone wanted. 😵

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Something tells me that Swedish sphincters pucker at a much lower temp.

[-] dermanus@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

I had a heated one for awhile but I've stuck with the simple cold water ones. It was a bit of a shock at first but I don't even notice now. I've been using them for like 15 years, I'm on my fourth now.

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Sounds like you could use fewer proteins and fats in your diet.🙃

[-] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago

I bought a pack of plush cotton wash cloths for this, same difference but works really nicely, and feels nice.

[-] scrodumb@lemmy.ca 23 points 1 week ago

The average American uses 141 rolls of toilet paper per year

That's a role every two and a half days.

And they still had to normalize skidmarks.

Americans are disgusting people.

[-] paranoid@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

We use one roll every 3-4 months. Bidet for the win!

[-] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago
[-] paranoid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

I use a bit of toilet paper to dry off and do a make-sure

[-] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works -4 points 1 week ago

How are your rolls lasting 3-4 months then? Are you a midget?

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

Math is hard, it's true.

[-] RadiallyAxiomatic@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

Hey, it is difficult to reach your butthole when you are twice the healthy BMI. And the back inflexibility from sitting 16hrs a day doesn't help either.

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

jesus, I don't even use that much and I use what I thought was a lot plus I use it as tissues for blowing my nose

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

The "average American" is a gawdamned idiot. Cows can use tools better than those morons. Go figure.

[-] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

The average American must need more fiber

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Toilet paper again? Didn't we realize last time the TP is a low value, high volume commodity and is always made domestically since it would be unreasonable to import?

[-] voidsignal@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

you underestimate the stupidity of Oompa J Loompa

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

Extra funny because they were, in the original manuscript, all black. Roald Dahl was a bit daft in many ways, and we have his editor to thank for that save.

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I haven't heard Oompa J Loompa yet but I'm definitely stealing it.

[-] zqwzzle@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

It’s funny because guess where they get the wood pulp to manufacture the toilet paper from.

Yeah but that's require ample US-based manufacturing which we know the corpos are against since it's require paying fair wages and benefits

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago

The fact that bidets aren't standard in the US is shameful, disgusting, and a travesty. 🤢
