These days the DOD is about as leaky as Donnie's diapers.
I applaud those who are willing to take the risk to get it out that at least some of the brass has guts enough to tell the boss he's wrong.

In Kegs-breath's DOD, there a non zero chance that dumbass leaked it himself.
It appears to me that information about the Aircraft Carrier's neglect being reported by Stars and Stripes Magazine led the administration to replace it's leadership and whatever else they just did promptly after.
I have to say, this whole Iran war thing has really opened my eyes to what is going on. Because we spend nearly $1T a year on our military, my assumption was that there was no military objective we couldn't meet. Pretty much take on the rest of the world if necessary, since we spend nearly as much as the rest of the world combined.
Then they light off a bunch of stuff in Iran and everyone is like, "welp, we're out." Really? That fast? Guess all of that money was getting stolen as well. I should have known.
I remember back in those halcyon days of 2022, watching Ukranian farmers steal russian tanks, and thinking "Boy, it would be funny if the US had the same corruption problems".
Oops.
The Military Industrial Complex is a giant scam that funnels American taxpayer's money to corporations and their billionaire owners. This video explains it in way more detail: https://youtu.be/T9IV09cvXx4
A big difference with this bullshit is that it's not really being fought as a war. These chucklefucks thought they could just go in, drop some bombs, fire some missiles, and that Iran would capitulate for some reason.
So it's not even the full might of the US military, it's just firing and depleting expensive ranged weapons and wondering why you aren't getting the outcomes you wanted.
I mean, that is what the us have done since Korea to some degree. Its not like they "won" Afghanistan or Iraq or Vietnam or really any not war wars.
This sounds like the same sort of cope you hear about russia "not yet sending the real troops yet". I mean, this is the full might of the us military. They can't even put boots on the ground (they would get chewed up), have run out of a lot of munitions, lost all bases anywhere near by and are failing to even properly supply and rotate out the naval forces in theater. Out side of glassing the middle east what do you expect them to do? Build escort ships? The us can't wage conventional war worth shit anymore.
I, an absolutely under-informed commenter, tend to agree. My impression is that the U.S. military is a pretty fearsome beast whose specific civilian leaders at the moment are witless, corrupt fools. If competent leadership were interested in the results this administration said they would get, it could presumably be done. Or at least something roughly approximating it.
Besides leadership you also need to account for the fact that, for better or worse, WW2 & 9-11 united both military and civilian logistics against a commom goal with international support. It made for brutal efficiency anywhere on the planet and gave rise to all the memes we know of now.
By contrast, this orange shitstain has fucked the economy, civilians, geopolitics, and most importantly the international logistics to project that military power in a way that isn't a complete embarrassment. Even if a competent progressive leader replaced him, this can't be fixed in a single term either and that is by intentional design of the Heritage Foundation that instructs Trump's actions under the derangement.
I mean the us won one of those conflicts sure.... not sure you want to be talking about the "success" of the war on terror...
Hence why I explicitly avoided the word "success". Despite the many controversies, logistics kept the War on Terror going far longer than it ever needed to. Bush burned a lot of trust and support for war, but the military complex arguably remained fully functional throughout.
Hey! We won Iraq. All that oil is now under us corporate control.
Never did find any wmds. A few hundred thousand dead.
But hey, look at them stock prices, not to mention all those sweet no bid defense contacts. I'd say capitalism won the day there.
But it shouldn't even be close for the money we've spent. Bush's little adventure cost $15T.
So aside from nukes, the US can't bring it's full might to bear against Iran. Even ignoring all the damage Iran has done to bases in the region the US simply can't project it's military like it used to. The logistics and supply systems have been hollowed and enshitified as fodder for capital. And now big tech is practically stripping the last of the copper wire out.
Yeah, but think of the shareholders profiting from all that war!
Look, if you're running such a shit-show that the fuckin' Bezos Post publishes your leak, maybe you look in the mirror once you wake up from your post-workout everclear shots (gotta minimize them empty calories!).
The actual reason why they’re upset is because it is now public knowledge that doing this is stupid and their subordinates told them so, so they can’t deflect blame later. W and Rumsfeld were smart and evil enough to preempt or quickly get rid of those people before Iraq. It’s almost funny how they can’t even do another Middle East war of choice properly
Frankly, it had to be very bad to get these guys to go as far as "non-concur" in writing at all.
Hegseth is literally unqualified to manage a large bureaucracy of any kind, evil or not, much less one with bombs and guns. I am guessing that it's a day-to-day operational shit-show, on top of being the same type of moral and long-term-strategy shit-show that Iraq was.
Are you claiming fox news anchors shouldn't be running the executive branch of the United States? It feels like that should be a joke about what if things really went to hell but here we are.
I imagine it's going as well as it did with the hidden destroyed bases
Neither Iraq nor Afghanistan were done "properly." Half the generals quit because the iraq invasion violated all precepts and doctrines of invasions. What is the ratio, 50 troops for every 1,000 civilians in a hostile population? The US went in with way less.
Don't take my word for it, you can read EVERY single Inspector General Report on those wars where the inspector castigates our leadership in progressively certain terms.
I do get your point, these clowns are even less capable. But let's not pretend the bush clows were. They were the worst administration to that date in time.
Right, I was thinking even partially as well as W did, which was already bad
an active-duty Army lieutenant colonel who runs the account InfantryDort, of working for the “enemies of the United States.”
The "enemies of the United States" are currently in power. All MAGAs are Domestic Terrorists, and MAGA is an ongoing, active National Security Threat, and should be declared illegal. Resistance/ Opposition to MAGA is the patriotic stance.
Uh oh, we have another case of wrong think. Your social score is now lowered. You can appeal that lower score to peter thiel's dick. Good luck.
Whistle blowers is probably a better description here
Fascism in full swing
Luckily fascists are also megalomaniacs and quickly run themselves into the ground. Sad times for America though.
I wouldn't mind if they ran themselves into the ground a little faster
And harder
A leak that experts in the area have told the idiot in charge something that anyone outside the military has been saying this whole time? Oh no.
Time for another "no one could have seen this coming". We definitely haven't had any historical evidence of pushing operations into places for made up goals only to find out it becomes long and drawn out with limited or no success at all. Nope.
I’m surprised that the upper echelons of the military aren’t solely sycophants at this point with all their firings wnd eliminations.
That's the thing about the military. For it to really function, you need to have layers of level headed trustworthy people who serve with honor. If you replace all of those people with cult members, your military will collapse, or become something that the rest of the government can't actually control
Well, like you said, that only matters if you want your military to actually be good

Hegseth using Signal again huh?
Yep. And cocaine!

Meanwhile in Canada: "Good! Good! Keep at it. Soon we'll be able to attack the U.S. with little to no resistance and burn the White House down again."
At the rate it's going, Trump will demolish the rest of it before they get the chance.
He will rebuild it all in his own image(of course), then someone will ask Canada to go burn down the white house again, and there will be a Terry Fox Torch bearing marathon to welcome the Canadians to complete the mission by all the Americans that understand the absolute blight that is this administration.
Then I'll wake up and it will all have been a pleasant dream
from your lips to Carney's ears
erupt over the fact that the war isnt distracting enough, thats why TRUMP has moved onto CANADA again.
