expensive rents and unaffordable house prices.
Fix this, and I bet a lot of the other issues will improve considerably.

Yeah, this also feels to me like the main solvable thing: build lots of housing, preferably social, preferably where young people want to live.
Exactly. There is too much focus on getting enough to survive that no one can live. And any place that people can meet now costs money. Money that goes to everything else. No one can afford to be friendly.
I'm an old fart with no friends. What do i win?
Peace and quiet?
not with my two boisterous cats
Sounds like you have friends.
5% up from 1%.
The confidence intervals on these percentages are, unsurprisingly, pretty broad, so describing this as a five-fold increase is dodgy. You can see more on p11 of the full report where the earlier figure could have been as much as 1.6% and the later figure as little as 3.5%, which would be a little over a two-fold increase. That increase is what we can be confident of.
The trend is not in doubt and is concerning, but let's not reproduce shitty statistics.
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
