Just one more example of why the world has to disassociate from American tech as rapidly as possible.

[-] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 5 points 10 hours ago

Disassociate from the United States period.

Minor asterisk: we need to move away from abusive tech business practices altogether. It's distressing how people can see the problem and recreate it like with Bluesky. I hope we can build better systems now rather than doing this all over again with european monopolists in 10 years.

the EU actually regulates...

I love Lemmy because I get so casually outlefted I feel like an elected Democrat in the US.

[-] JollyBrancher@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

Even with that wildly, non-extreme sounding candor, a democratic-socialist at worst. I used to consider my self a "classic" centrist. Now? I couldn't tell you tf it meant then.

It's good to be reminded there are morons involved with every political philosophy out there

Capitalism needs to go if you want this to happen.

[-] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

Ah, yes. Anti-capitalist software like Yandex and Baidu are so much better...

What the world needs are federated, distributed systems like www, email, and the fediverse

[-] goodguys9@lemmy.ca 4 points 15 hours ago

Just because they operate out of China, that doesn't make them anti-capitalist. Frankly, despite its name, China has a capitalist economy, just with much stronger authoritarianism than most.

[-] DeathsEmbrace@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Doesn’t matter about the software. You want them to stop being pieces of shits with malicious practices yet capitalism encourages the greater shits to a fight to be the biggest piece of shit on the planet. Case study: The Oil and gas industry might as well call it the parasite thats in everything including you right now.

This situation shows one very good reason why diversity is a strength and monopoly is a threat.

Hey now that I think about it isn't that the lake that an informant told the FBI trump dumped a dead infant in?

EDIT: Nope, that was Lake Michigan, file no. EFTA00025010

[-] db2@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

One of the things in the files is about them eating an infant.

[-] tired_n_bored@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

Coincidentally what they blamed Democrats for. They think everyone is like them

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 7 points 1 day ago

Sounds less credible than the one I mentioned, file no. EFTA00025010

[-] db2@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

"there are millions of babies, very little good vegatble [vegetable] cream cheese.”

And

“Lol, I don't know if cream cheese and baby are on the same level."

But tell me more about how it isn't credible.
