Sometimes people need a reminder that we've all been the infestation at one time or another. Maybe some of us were never a Redditor, but we were all in a similar position somewhere, sometime, in some context. But I know well that even Redditors are capable of growing and changing as people. And a Redditor having an interest in Lemmy is definitely a sure sign of being deserving of being given a chance.

I would be surprised if it's only 80%. I'd comfortably bet on at least 95%. It's probably 99+%. If you like the format of Lemmy, then you also like the format of Reddit. Reddit has far more marketing and public awareness.

Well said. I came over a few years back when lemm.ee was still a thing, and there were hardly ever comments on posts. The growth has been noticeable and it’s been mostly good. It’s not like the fediverse doesn’t have plenty of its own drama and idiots, so as long as new users are adding to the engagement in meaningful ways, I welcome them.

thier logins popups, forcing people to use old reddit through login. is getting more aggressive. mostly it stopped working on mostsome browsers forks, if you are on a mobile phone they are trying to force people to use the app.
on ironfox mobile, it wont let me switch to old reddit anymore, even with different add ons. currently it still working on firefox, but time will tell when they will fully close old reddit.
they were slowly rolling out these changes over the months. it really became apparent in the last 2 weeks. reddit is horrid in the new layouts, people prefer the old reddit.
this is due to the fact reddit lost a ton of traffic, from openai, because they stopped referencing them, they need fresh user generated content from real users to continue that grift. Also because they banned so much last year too, people were just lurking on reddit(including me), people who had reddit account just lurked on the site because they dint want to risk getting banned randomly.
and yes reddit being stupid, banning people last year had a big impact on user generated content, and thier reddit filters have been increasing in trying to detech "spam bots"
