Just want to remind everyone - Pelosi supported and even robo-called on behalf of the anti-choice right wing D.I.N.O. Republican Henry Cuellar over his progressive primary opponent Jessica Cisneros… who he beat by only about 200 votes.
Oh, also Cuellar is pro-NRA… and Nancy Pelosi’s robo call support for him beating Jessica (again the pro-choice candidate that the NRA did NOT prefer) went out on THE DAY OF THE UVALDE SCHOOL SHOOTING.
What this is actually about:
This is pure Republican PR. They included a poison pill in the resolution so that Democrats would vote against it, and then they can associate those Democrats with socialism. The reality is that far more than 8 Democrats would have voted in favor of the resolution of it hadn't included that.
So who are the 8 democrats who are morons and thought condemning socialism was more important than protecting voter rights?

People seriously call themselves capitalists when it's not immediately followed by a justification for slavery with extra steps, crimes against humanity, or planet-destroying surveillance technology?

Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez's name comes up on these "defections" with regularity. She is essentially a moderate Republican, but that's not a thing anymore, so she's a Democrat. Her district is historically rather red, so we are unfortunately unlikely to get anyone better there anytime soon.
I know some people in Vancouver, WA that hate having her as their rep, but unfortunately her district is large and otherwise pretty rural, so they'll continue to suffer having her to "represent" them
Yep. Within the city limits of Vancouver WA it's becoming more reliably blue, but as soon as you hit unincorporated Clark county...well there's a confederate monument. And Clark County is probably less red than the other counties also in the district. I do have my frustrations with Gluesenkamp-Perez, but we were depressing close to having the clown-show that is Joe Kent as our representative.
I think things are slowly changing, but unfortunately there's still so many people here who's whole schtick when it comes to politics are "HURRR DURRRR WE AREN'T PORTLAND LIBTARDS".

But two moderate Democrats — Golden [Maine] and Gluesenkamp Perez [Washington] — defected and helped the procedural vote succeed, putting some of their Democratic colleagues in a politically tricky situation.
House Democratic leadership condemned Golden and Gluesenkamp Perez's decision later Tuesday.
"The decision by two of our colleagues to blindside the entire House Democratic Caucus and join with the Republican majority to pass a procedural rule on the brink of failing represents a significant breach of trust. The DSA's mistake was using the S word in its title. What they represent is not "socialism," and that word makes it too easy for other politicians to promote shit like this ridiculous resolution. Should have called themselves the Humanist party, or the Working Class party, or something that more closely reflects what they represent.
Nah. It was the correct word choice. They can condemn till they're blue in the face. Every time they fear monger about socialism while talking about democratic socialists, they're selling both concepts to Americans.
