I'd personally recommend an air purifier as it'll also clean the air that comes in as you enter.

Saying this as a person from BC with its yearly fires :(

This is the correct answer. If you are going to run an appliance 12 + hours a day.....have it clean the air while making a nice low static noise.

Just go to your local store with a baby section. Get a fan based white noise machine, not a digital one. This way the noise is truly random and your brain won't be bothered by sound loops.

The dedicates baby ones are frequently adjustable and do a better job blocking sound at a doorway in my experience.
