This is a big issue, I've been thinking about aligning my head lights down so I can use brights. Why? Because they're the old fashioned giant glass bulb ones (old jeep). They're on so I don't get a ticket and don't really do anything. The car behind me lights the way.
If it's the old classic glass 8" round headlights, there are some dot approved led versions that might be brighter
I've seen them but mines lifted so I'm not sure if it will affect people in sedans, my daily is a sedan and the new LED lights that pickups have illuminate my interior. I mean I plan to look into it, gotta lot of maintenance to do anyway.
If the obnoxiously bright blazing headlights of an oncoming car cause momentary blindness & disorientation to the point of losing the ability to see then crashing one's car & serious injury or death, how can bright blazing headlights driver be brought to justice? He passed, he's gone, he doesn't know the wreck & death he caused. 🤔

i feel like this could be easily mitigated by including proper use of high beams in driver's ed
requiring drivers to actually know how to drive a car would solve quite a lot of problems, but society has decided that it cannot be arsed
Which is a bigger issue with those earlier types of technology, most new LED headlights are adaptive and literally cut off the part of the beam that another car would sit in. Meaning they're actually better than a lazy driver who doesn't switch off high beams.

Im pretty sure the factory headlights on my car are LED, and they project a decent pattern. Much better than the time I tried to put LED's in a halogen-headlight motorcycle.

Dunno why you'd be surprised. Anyone behind the wheel of a personal car or truck has already made the decision that their personal convenience is more important than the safety or even life of anyone else around them. Is it really so.hard to comprehend that anyone narcissistic enough to be driving for personal transportation would be narcissistic about other things too?

- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
