You know what always bugged me about that movie? So Doctor Strange has to erase this kids identity to fix the spell that he himself fucked up. Kids whole life gets wiped out nobody remembers them, he has to get his GED because apparently his school records got wiped out, and presumably his entire legal identity cuz if its going to wipe out school records why not citizenship status and medical records and identification cards, and then he moves into this dinky little apartment he somehow affords with no credit history in New York City. All while Dr Strange is sitting there with a fucking mansion. Tons of rooms. Why the hell didn't Peter Parker go to him and say you erased me but I need a fucking place to live this is New York City have you seen the rent?
Because Peter not being poor just doesn't work for his character, never mind that iron man left him an inheritance. Comic logic.
Yeah he totally would have told Dr Strange. Big plot hole.
with all the spying tech gizmos in his "apartment too"
Kids, if you flash GrapheneOS Spider-Man won't be able to locate and help you.
Let me tell you about the last time I looked at whether or not somebody actually obtained their GED or high school diploma.... Never.
...okay.
I did enjoy the new Spider-Man, but I'll admit I couldn't remember where the fuck we are in the timeline or whatever when it started. I definitely saw the relevant previous storylines, but at the beginning of the movie I was like "why doesn't anyone remember who Spider-Man is?"
Almost like movies probably shouldn't be constructed from required-viewing homework from dozens of other movies and TV shows.
all the MCU movies and shows are just promoting the next show or movie since ENDGAME.
The movie starts with a recap flashback thing reminding you of the spell my friend
Yeah that's what I'm talking about. Like I know they explained it, but I was still sitting there thinking "When did that happen? Was it in Spider-Man or some other Marvel thing?" despite the fact that I did watch the previous movie. All the marvel stuff is really starting to bleed together and lose definition in my memory.
they made the MCU, just have crossover after crossover.
The latest Spider-Man movie is just a very long ad for Flock-style mass surveillance, just like the Avengers were a way to normalize extrajudicial military operations.
This being said... it's Disney calling the shots, was anyone expecting quality over quantity?
JFC that is bizarre on the avengers, the movie would be shit if it was a red tape simulation. I donteven remember anything to do with cameras in spiderman. I remember the overbearing force of government organisations didappearing peopleoff the streer and being revealed to be the bad guys.
Tbh that's exactly how comics crossovers are written too. There's a vague plot they all follow but it's obvious that the various writers didn't know what exactly happens in each other's issues until after it's too late.
I read the "Atlantis Attacks" event recently, where the bad guy wants to revive the evil god Set. His plan is to get Atlantis and the surface into a war and use the blood sacrifice to revive Set.
So naturally, he spends the first couple issues making a giant serpent crown, turning random people into snake people and collecting 7 brides for Set.
He eventually gets Atlantis to attack the surface, hoping that they will be killed or the surface will retaliate and destroy Atlantis.
Next issue, rather than waiting for the outcome of the battle he summons a sea monster to destroy Atlantis, its blood poisons the waters and he decides that the decimation of Atlanteans is enough for the sacrifice.
Next issue, he decides he needs to genocide them and nukes Atlantis.
Next issue, he announces that without the blood sacrifice his original plans are ruined. Regardless, turns out some gizmos and the power of one of the seven brides is enough to revive Set.
Next issue Set is defeated and torn into 7 pieces by Thor and Dr Strange.
But he has 7 brides and a giant serpent crown which are apparently also the ingredients needed to reunite the pieces of Set. Needless to say, he gets defeated for good before that happens..
Valid criticism though. It made the plot feel super contrived.
