I like this. It illustrates very well how AI works. Very often when a movie is released then there's a screening at that time. So AI said yes!

[-] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 15 points 1 day ago

I was invited by a newly made friend to go to a party being celebrated by a food store. It sounded fun. We got there and there was nothing. "It was two days ago." "But ChatGPT said it would continue through today," quipped the moron.

Bro was already on an Internet connected device and was too lazy to just switch to Google. This is advanced stupidity.

[-] blackberry28@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago

Exactly what corpos want. Make humans even more stupid and dependent on certain technologies, so that they stay docile.

[-] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 35 points 2 days ago

We haven't used google here for over 5 years friend. Please change to ddg, ecosia, kagi, or searxng. Your life will improve.

[-] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 2 days ago

Already been on DDG for a hot minute, but using "Google" as a generic term for search cheapens their brand name.

[-] ddplf@szmer.info 7 points 1 day ago

Nah, it actually solidifies their monopoly over search engines.

Just say websearch if you want to be generic

[-] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 days ago

I gotcha. I just prefer to say search or looked up myself.

[-] Funkt4st1c@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Google erasure is the way to go. I somwtimes jokingly say i "binged it"

Bing it on!

[-] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 day ago

How did they take the picture if their phone was in their hand?

[-] absentbird@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I assume they're taking a photo of the story so it doesn't notify the person that they took a screenshot.

[-] msfroh@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Internet-connected fridge

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Just gotta move the phone back faster than c (taking a roundabout path so that your phone's path while moving doesn't obscure or mix with the desired pic) while also switching to the camera app and hope your didn't have a delay set on your camera or you just did a lot of damage to the area for nothing (even approaching c is pretty violent to everything else nearby not at c).

Dude likely gets paid 6 figures, and is this stupid.

[-] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

This is how Google works now.

[-] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 142 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Absolute idiot.

Edit: "During a session" – man, fuck off.

[-] DonGirses@lemmy.world 39 points 2 days ago

what a fucking tool

[-] drolex@sopuli.xyz 24 points 2 days ago

Is this today's parlance for a good old jerk off? I can't catch up with the youth

[-] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago

No, it’s probably just boring chatter - these people are slowly disconnecting from normal (or even problematic) human interaction, growing into a sort of symbiotic relationship with the machine.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Symbiotic means mutually beneficial. Half or more of the time it's not benefitting the human and machines cannot benefit from any experience.

[-] _g_be@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

They love to syphon up all the data for 'training' so it could be argued that it's mutually beneficial... but it's comparable to that zombie virus/fungus that infects and takes over the caterpillar

Yes, it would have been the better choice of words I guess

Session for me means a session of Claude code. Not sure why you would pollute context with such questions.

If they have long enough chats with the chatbot interface that the word "session" comes into mind, I have no idea what they're doing with their life.

[-] MBech@feddit.dk 29 points 1 day ago

I tried something similar. Asked ChatGPT to keep an eye on my wife's flight and to alert me 15 minutes before I would have to leave from where I currently was in order to pick her up. I was around 45 minutes from the airport. It told me to drive 5 minutes before she landed. I didn't trust it for shit and was on time though.

What does it do

Why is this a photo of a phone showing the post instead of just a screenshot of the post?

[-] OfCourseNot@fedia.io 60 points 2 days ago

They asked Claude and that's how they told them to do it...

Now seriously, some apps don't let you make screenshots.

[-] zip@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 2 days ago

Likely because the application will detect that a screenshot was taken and will then notify the guy who posted it that someone screenshot their post (and who did it.)

[-] eleijeep@piefed.social 7 points 2 days ago

Good job they didn't include any identifying features in the photo like their phone model, screen protector, case and right-hand, then!

[-] boonhet@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

That only matters if the original person who sent the snap sees it... But also they might not know each other well enough to identify like that

Can't decide who is dumber, the AI or people trusting the AI

[-] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The people. AI is just a machine. I don't believe machines can be "smart". Like would you say a calculator is the best mathematician in the world? No, it's a machine.

[-] Azrael@feddit.org 11 points 2 days ago

No idea what the movie is... but doesn't that poster say December 6th 2026? That's the Release day, no?

[-] havid_dume@lemmy.ml 21 points 2 days ago

The poster is backwards and the date is in MM/DD order. The release date was June 12.

[-] destructdisc@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Correct. Claude hallucinated that there would be a showing of the movie at 7.20pm on the night this image was taken.

Can you even use AI for anything fairly recent? It's been a while but asking for anything that is supposed to happen on the same day seems useless.

[-] four@lemmy.zip 22 points 2 days ago

AIs can query the web and parse the results, so it is possible for Claude to understand the question, search the web for movie schedule of a cinema, parse the website and give an accurate answer. It's also very possible for it to do it incorrectly or just pretend that it did that and give you a random time instead so that you are happy.

I can't imagine trusting an AI with something like this, where it's so easy to just check it yourself

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
