Context: "Before the 19th Amendment, there was an entire movement built to stop it.

Organized opposition to women’s suffrage started as early as the 1880s in Massachusetts, but went national in 1911 when the National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage (NAOWS) was founded. Led by Josephine Dodge, the group argued women were too “delicate” for politics, that voting would destroy the family & that most women simply didn’t want to vote.

It worked… for a while. By 1916 NAOWS had grown to over 350,000 members across 25 states, funded partially by the liquor industry, which feared women voters would push through Prohibition.

They lost. On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified, and NAOWS dissolved shortly after.

These posters are the propaganda that almost kept women from voting. Women, you must remember that the vote was never handed over, it was fought for against people who worked just as hard to take it away.

Somewhere, someone was on the other side of these posters. They were organizing, getting arrested, going on hunger strikes and more, so that a right this basic wouldn’t be up for debate. Sitting out an election is a disservice to every woman who fought this fight so you wouldn’t have to. Use your right. "

Last one is just lesbian propaganda and I like it.

I put that at the end as a palette cleanser from how gross the rest were.

And honestly with men like that, why wouldn’t a woman go with the better choice.

I wonder how people in 100 years are going to look at us

I'm looking at humanity today. Not better.

That is messed up. Can we get a list of the authors and their gravesites so I can take a little pilgrimage?

Ah you’re on PieFed, so you’re probably only seeing one of them? I hope it’s the lesbian one.

Oh, I had no idea PieFed had limitation like this. Yes, I only see one. Yes, it's the lesbian one :D

Edit: I checked the post at source, the second one does not go hard :(

What is the limitation for piefed? I've seen images in the post body since migrating, is it something else?

[-] Quokka@quokk.au 4 points 1 day ago

Quokk.au runs PyLova a fork of PieFed that has lots of extra features.

These aren’t supported in PieFed; For Lemmy and Mbin it adds the rest into the post body and with PyLova it displays them all in the main image view with arrows to cycle through.

I can only see one without opening the meta link, myself. Woman's got her tongue caught in a vice.

Might be the app I'm using?
