A 30 fold increase! So we expect 900fps next week!

I'm always ready to get disappointed by any extrapolated numbers. So I will reduce my expectations so I don't get disappointed anymore. I think 300fps is the sweet spot we can expect next week.

A nice blow to Sony I love it

Wow, that's super impressive. Half a year ago I would be surprised if the game even boots, but now it's being rendered properly and is almost at playable framerates. People really want to play GTA 6 on PC, huh?

With pretty much every single ps5 game going forward being locked down, this is a good step.

[-] csolisr@hub.azkware.net 13 points 3 days ago

GTA 6 will probably be slightly playable by the time it releases, LOL

[-] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago

It's going to be hilarious if it's like TotK where the games runs and looks better on the PC via emulator than native on the PS5

[-] csolisr@hub.azkware.net 7 points 3 days ago

Uncapped frame rate would be the dream

[-] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Frame Generation would likely be available at the very least.

If anything, I expect some streamers to use a capture card and pipe that to Lossless Scaling. It's what I do with my Switch (2) sometimes

[-] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 days ago

Only if you use FreeSync or G-Sync.

But I don't think that GTA 6 will be playable on console launch on PC with emulation. Simply because the game is extremely complex, big, full of content, and extremely taxing on the hardware that the emulator developers need special fixes for the game. And a game like that needs time to play and test.

I don't think GTA 6 will be playable on it's intended platform on launch either, just like how GTA5 was near unplayable on the PS3. But maybe some people will consider 10 FPS to be a good experience.

Well, we saw lot of gameplay footage so far. And the times are different now, because the PS5 hardware (and Xbox Series X) have strong CPU (compared to PS3 and XB360). Especially the PS3 was extremely hard to program too. Nowadays almost all consoles are PC like, meaning its not that difficult anymore. In example, just because some games on the Nintendo 64 didn't play well, doesn't mean later consoles from Nintendo had the same issues. Throughout the lifetime of this console generation we had the most 60 fps games ever. Given Rockstar does not put multiple games in short amount of time like in PS3 days, we can assume there is lot of optimization going on. I mean we saw the gameplay, at least to some degree.

In short, I do expect GTA 6 being playable at least at 30 fps (maybe with drops here and there). But this generation was pretty good so far. You forgot that when GTA 5 came out, that most games were bad performance on those consoles. So it was not something like GTA 5 being especially bad.

That's awesome! The PS3 version is hands-down the one to play (and you can even play online on RPCS3!), but this is super exciting for the other PS5 games!

[-] potustheplant@feddit.nl 3 points 2 days ago

How come? I thought people liked the remake.

[-] hakase@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

A lot of people do like it, but to me and a lot of other souls fans it's basically the dlss5 version of the original. Very flashy but missing the mark on music, art design, and even the few gameplay changes they made.

[-] iamthetot@piefed.ca 1 points 2 days ago

Remake is better imho.

[-] arules@retrofed.com 3 points 3 days ago

This game should have been a FreeBSD{Linux{Windows release.

[-] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Weird to use an opening curly brace "{" as a separator, instead "," or "/" or even "|" in example. Ah wait, I think it symbolizes an Arrow? If so, then why not use "<" instead?

[-] arules@retrofed.com 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

The operating system of a PS3 is customized kernel of FreeBSD, meaning, FromSoftware could have published the FBSD binary for FBSD users. For Linux, they would need to work out a few changes to make a native port, all the while more work needing for Windows. I used “{” to demonstrate “formulate” or “branch,” from mathematical notations.

[-] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 8 points 3 days ago

This is about Demon Souls Remake exclusive to PS5, not the Playstation 3 version.

[-] arules@retrofed.com -1 points 3 days ago

PS5 still uses Sony's proprietary fork of FBSD, no?

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

You said ps3 though
