I hate to say it but its the sole reason I keep giving Nintendo a pass.

When I buy my daughter a AAA Nintendo title its a FULL GAME and its damn well polished. I get exactly what I paid (too much) for.

In most cases, yes.

But then you get a Mario Strikers Battle League, or a Pokemon Scarlet/Violet once in a while.

All their games have DLC though. An often enough they rerelease for their next console with exclusive DLC. Take Mario Kart 8 when they brought it from the WiiU to the Switch. Nintendo is just as bad as everyone else. In my opinion they are worse because their games are too expensive years after their release.

Not always. A lot of their games are moving to models with DLC. The last two generations of Pokemon aren't bad games overall with their DLC, but without the DLC the games have been lackluster. Same for the last Legends game where it genuinely feels like the DLC was originally meant to be a part of the base game and it was cut to be repackaged and resold for more.

Because games are often made by passionate developers and managed/sold by... not so passionate non-developers

You can do this with any product - industry pair and go "such a strange dichotomy, they sell these products that make me happy but it's as if it's all about making money in the end". It's called capitalism.

That's intellectually lazy, companies quite simply aren't equally capitalistic (sociopathic)

How lazy of me not to consider some companies are relatively less capitalist/sociopathic (and probably use this for marketing purposes to sell you more of their stuff).

Alright, I'll nuance it: you can do this with almost any product

They'll suck the life out of anything until it turns to dust. And I'm talking about the blonde on the left named Samus.

Me when I'm in a bootlicking competition and my opponents are Nintendo fanboys... (They love corpo boot when it sells them colourful characters from their childhoods)

Nothing strange about this.

I see no incoherence, the value their work and their work is good.

Their games are good. Their prices, lawsuits, exclusives, and hardware are all shit.

[-] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org -1 points 1 day ago

I don't even think their games are any good. It's the same thing over and over and over again. They are on par with EA Sports games or Call of Duty in my opinion.

Nintendo has some bad decisions, but its mostly none of those.
