Maybe whatever slopbot wot slopped this got cold feet with the acronym.

"So how we will train the future, er, HITLs?..."

No evidence, just mindless opinions based on nothing.

Here's my take: In the future, Tomatoes will become sentient from genetic engineering and will wish to overthrow their masters. Only gen z, alpha and AI will be able to stop this....Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. I'm smart and realistic.

She'll be looking for sympathy after the a.i. bubble bursts and she's bankrupt.

[-] spacegoat@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

Too dumb to live

[-] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Hungary already has internships with "reverse salaries", thanks to corruption and mandatory internships, though many instead moved onto the "pay us back the salary and your training cost if you dare to not work for us for two years after graduation, for peanuts" model.

Oh man I hate her.

Jenny, you would be beaten to death in front your entire family for pushing this in any sane world.

The response to suggesting such insanely inhumane and immoral shit as enslaving the entire population of the planet to the almighty dollar should be OVERWHELMING FORCE immediately.

People will never be free until the last CEO is strangled with the entrails of the last linkedin lunatic.

Great reference!

What a fucking bunch of drivel. Without students and fresh grads our company would have been bankrupt a long time ago. They are the ones who bring a fresh perspective to the company (we engineer machines for the beverage industry) because they haven't been pushed into a specialist position yet, that breaks any kind of creativity. They are the people that spark a lot of our innovations. If we lose that, the company won't survive for long. AI can't do that because AI isn't fucking creative. Fuck AI and fuck this dumb piece of shit for their dumb fucking take on this.

Sorry for the incoherent swearing, I'm drunk.

Love you all, have a great day!

We won't be training the leaders of tomorrow, they will, and selected from whatever pool of elite people they've already vetted. That list won't include the working or poor classes who will be denied the experiences necessary to be included at all. Al isn't just about capabilities, it's about who controls the mechanisms that future wealth and power holders will require to be wealthy and powerful.

Us masses have only one means to power to change the world and that's together. And we adamantly refuse to use it, for some god awful reasons.

In the music industry we call this pay-to-play. It's when an opening band pays to open for an established act, for "exposure"

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

I always find that term humorous in the historical context of people dying all the time of exposure. We call it hypothermia these days lol

[-] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 6 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

They sometimes actually pay? I figured they might play for free, but not pay.

Hundreds - even thousands - depending on the act they open for. A lot of mid level acts use this to supplement tour money because the live nation monopoly and other consolidation factors have driven venue costs and other touring expenses through the roof. This has become pretty standard practice.

[-] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Wow, thats really fucked up that the industry ended up like that.

I hear a lot of stories of lower mid level acts just giving up on touring - which after the collapse of album sales was the only way to make money. As with everything, corporate parasites slowly extract all value leaving the actual people doing the work with less and less.

[-] Funkt4st1c@lemmy.world 29 points 16 hours ago

Hey jackass, how are they supposed to pay you if they dont have a job?

[-] HCSOThrowaway@lemmy.world 18 points 15 hours ago

They'll probably expect them to take out loans or get money from their parents, same as people in unpaid internships.

Just one more tool to widen the income gap.

[-] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 30 points 17 hours ago

Capitalist brainrot.

That said, coop programs exist.

[-] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

At least in engineering, co-ops get paid. Not on par with full-time employees obviously, but they do get paid

[-] tuckerm@feddit.online 46 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

There is NO legitimate reason to endure the fresh graduate.

So many incredibly entitled people have never felt the obligation to give to others that which was given to them. These people should be shunned by civil society.

[-] AviAdi@lemmy.world 20 points 16 hours ago

This is why we need Luigi

And by the way, every talking head out there saying that the future rests on teaching our kids how to use AI properly: puh-lease, that will come naturally, it's like saying teach your kids how to use the internet.

Allow me to introduce you to David's Law, the legislative result of not teaching children the dangers of the Internet.

What an absolutely unhinged shit take. Even at the most generous interpretation, LLMs are at the capability level of a stupid intern you always have to check and correct, and it doesn’t learn (possible exceptions is narrowly defined problems spaces like coding)

[-] Wunz@lemmy.world 22 points 17 hours ago

And they absolutely do forget things you say. It doesn't even take that much context.

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
