When we met Katie Connolly, she was weeks away from meeting her newborn son. Her nursery was ready, but one critical choice hung over her head.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this had something to do with RFK Jr.’s obsession with breastfeeding. Destroy faith in formula via incompetence to force women to do it. To them, it’s another form of control.

Here’s the thing - breastfeeding is healthy and great. Not every woman can do it. My wife had a physical issue that prevented the babies from latching and she tried her damnedest. My own mother spoke about how excruciatingly painful it was.

Without safe formula, babies will die.

And with the way capitalism disciplines labour, especially in the dystopia that is the US, breastfeeding is turned into a dilemma for working class mothers who are squeezed out of the "privilege" of taking breaks to feed their kid. So it becomes yet another attack on women's rights, pushing mothers to stay home. If they really were serious about giving every mother who wants it the opportunity to breastfeed they should offer proper paid parental leave for everyone. And of course formula should be uncontroversially safe and available to all who choose it.

Suffering is their goal.

They gutted all governmental organizations involved in enforcing environmental, health and safety standards because they "hindered profit". What else did you expect would happen?

Oh yeah they also gutted the IRS to a point where they have become ineffective against fiscal fraud. I wonder why.

"Just because your child got botulism, Katie, doesn't mean the formula is unsafe! Just look at all the ones who didn't get it!"

The FDA, probably.

ByHeart formula.

Fast forward to 2025 - weeks after the FDA declared America's supply "safe," and while still investigating the ByHeart botulism outbreak with nearly four dozen babies hospitalized, more cases surfaced. This time, from a different company: Nara Organics.

Well, who are you going to believe, the government? Or your own lying eyes?

RFKjr is developing the next generation of marketable immunity solutions through his Bahchoo babies™ startup.

Formula is not used correctly and pushed on people who don’t need it. If mom is capable of breast feeding she should. It is a custom formula built for that specific baby and can even reverse certain health issues baby may have thanks to moms milk. The formulas sellers want all moms to use it for more profit.

[-] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 hours ago

Labour discipline is forced on people who are then forced to make choices based on expediency. The single most important pro-breastfeeding policy is universal paid parental leave and pro-family labour rules.

If mom is capable

certain health issues baby may have

I think you may have accidentally forgotten article.

[-] cheat700000007@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago

And what's any of that have to do with tainted formula

[-] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

This increases the spread of the effects from tainted products, as consumption becomes more widespread.

I was just venting in general about big biz trying to profit off everything. Sorry I was not specifically on topic.
