More like, if you are petty enough to dive into someones history rather than judge what was written...they do have a point. You are exiting the scope of a comment, thus yielding current discussion and try to find a point of critique in the bigger picture. Kinda sad.
Usually I'm there to block them. I also think it's "sad" that you're suggesting holding someone accountable by checking what they've written in the past and how it compares to what they're currently saying isn't valid, as if there is no obligation to have consistent beliefs. If you're just there to find the one time they said something cringe and dunk on them for it, sure, that is stupid; but the concept of checking someone's history isn't.
I am too used to people confusing discussing what is presented with looking for any way to invalidate what was written. Even the biggest, nastiest troll can have a point, and not being able to refute it is not a reason to try and instead go the way of "yeah, you are nasty in other posts so you must be trolling" or similiar.
But yeah, I admit, didn't think about entering profile just to block someone.
