Thats... Not how email replies work. The older message would be on the bottom.

I refuse to believe people would just make shit up.

But also like, the subject is Paid Leave Request. So what is "Dear HR" and "to HR" On standard gmail that would mean his name in his email client is literally "Dear HR"

Someone wanted to make something they thought was funny and did the best they could with the tools available to them

depending on tbe repliers email client and settings the older email can also be on the top

TOFU ("text over, fullquote under").

We who still reply below messages are still in the fight. We may be losing but the fight continues!

Not in gmail, which is infuriating

What a backward country. It would be laughable if it weren't so sad.

Here's how it works in developed countries: You call in sick. That's it. You still get paid.

And of course, you also get paid while taking your guaranteed vacation time. Being paid while you're on vacation isn't some special benefit you have to negotiate for.

Stand up American People and fight for your rights!

As someone in the US with pretty good paid sick leave (there are many of us, but certainly not most people working lower-wage jobs), I think the joke here is that they are requesting 30 days up front and fashioning it as a threat

[-] AgentRocket@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago

As someone from the civilised world, the only acceptable amount of paid sick leave is infinite (with doctors note).

If the doctor says you'll need 30 days to heal, then you get 30 sick days up front. nothing funny about that.

[-] protist@retrofed.com 2 points 1 month ago

Sure, but again my perception is that's genuinely not what this is about. Based on the info we have, this guy is threatening to expose everyone to covid unless he gets 30 days off and did not attach any info about having seen a doctor

He took one for the team. It’s all part of the plan. Next month it’s going to be someone else’s turn.

It feels awkward to side with hr

[-] Leviathan@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago

Fuck HR. They could all be working from home.

Offices are mostly a relic of the past, taking up livable space so that management can micromanage employees and justify their phoney-baloney jobs.

[-] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

I work in corporate America. I will never side with HR

[-] jtrek@startrek.website 5 points 1 month ago

HR at the horrible mega Corp I work for has been described as "day care". They all seem to move at a glacial speed, which when you're dealing with time sensitive tasks I'd say is incompetence.

The few I've talked to are nice, in a polite small talk way, but it just shouldn't take a whole month to go from application to phone screen. Certainly not for internal candidates.

[-] PizzaLamp25@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

This guy must be the least liked in the office.
