I mean, definitely read the article, 167000 lbs, isn't very much. I imagine that a certain area around north Carolina is affected, but not much more then that.
Plot twist: this is big veggies trying to get people to stop eating meat.
I think the best advice is to do both: check what meat if affected and whether that might include the meat you're looking at. If you're not sure, maybe skip meat for a change. You can do without.

YSK California has the most stringent food safety regulations in the country, going above and beyond what the fed requires. Thank fuck I live here and not somewhere that does the bare minimum required of them (which, rn, is doing nothing at all).

Thing is, many of these things grow over time, and - especially with the active gutting of regulatory and oversight bodies - there's a decent chance that the list isn't comprehensive.
It's also one of the reasons why I have avoided US meat products and grabbed stuff with a maple leaf instead, because it wasn't hard to see this coming (and coming and coming)
This recall list is for things the grocery store or restaurants see, not consumer sized cuts. When was the last time you bought 30lbs of menudo mix?
I get my meat the way god intended, from the side of the interstate. Chicken of the pavement. Highway hamburger. Fauna ala Ford. Jeep jerky. The other black meat.
They faked a label. Executives need to go to prison.
The internet says the US sells appoximately 200 million pounds of meat a day based on per capital numbers. This is a big number, but drop in the bucket.
That said, they put a false inspection number on it and the recall happened because they got caught. My guess is mis labeling and not being inspected is probably more common than we know.

This is not because of deregulation, this is because Star Meat Delivery attempted to avoid inspection by falsely labeling their meat as inspected.
The active regulatory body discovered it, and as it wasn't inspected, the rule is immediate Class I.
While im all for blaming the GOP on deregulation, deregulation did not enable this. Regulation issued the recall.
