Goddammit, is "sanity check" an AI phrase now? Are we going to have to constantly reinvent language just to stay ahead of AI ingesting it and regurgitating it? It already killed the emdash.
Management got AI to rewrite all our documentation and it put em dashes everywhere, including in active directory group policy names which broke them. I wonder if I can get it to fix its own mistake.

Yesterday my phone autocorrected an hyphen into an emdash, and I had to go undo it like 3 separate times before it stopped
It also regularly auto corrects words I meant to type that are spelled correctly because it determines it likes a different word more in a different context (the word it switches to usually doesn’t even work in the context of my text)
Why in the fuck would it do that, and why can’t I turn it off?!
I’m good with spellcheck, but automatically changing my word choices is fucked up, annoying, and super dumb
I've fully turned autocorrect off on my phone. Never turned it on on my desktop. It'll underline words it thinks are wrong, but if there are going to be any spelling errors in my texts, they're gonna be 100% organic, dammit. Texting is definitely slower this way, but a lot less frustrating.
I do the same and I gotta say it is a ton better.

Most of those typos aren’t even remotely organic. There is absolutely no reason I should hit the wrong key six times in a row when I try to re-write the word correctly, excruciatingly slowly to get it right, yet every other letter is identically correct between iterations.
Phone keyboards are just pure trash, is all. We’ve had decades to get them right and just haven't bothered.
The adaptive tap targets that resize the virtual key (you can’t see this behavior) are infuriating.

I thought that's on purpose as it means the person blocked you and iPhone falls back on SMS or whatever. I don't have an iPhone tho
Maybe they scrolled the older messages up for privacy.
Then the messages would be flush with the bottom. You can't scroll into empty space like that if there's more messages
It’s tricky, but you can get the gap by scrolling and holding and then doing the screenshot before you let go and it bounces back down.
You can see in these shots I just made because of the horrible iOS transparency.

What’s confusing? The original OP of the texts got a text from his girlfriend, responded like an AI would be, then shared the screenshot to be funny.
