Lol this is the least important attribute about EVs to me.
If it charges enough for me to drive 100 km over 8 hours (while I sleep), it's grand.
But the most important thing to me is that it isn't a surveillance capsule. So far all EVs suck at this metric.
The United States is to EV's what Blockbuster is to Streaming. I mean this as a former Bolt EV driver up and down the Pacific Northwest. I never had any trouble at all. Loved it. But the US auto industry is eons behind the Chinese, the Koreans, and even the European manufacturers. It's a joke how bad US auto is in comparison to just BYD,
The US Auto industry fell behind and only survives due to protective tariffs. With the charging capabilities BYD et al. are advancing at a mind boggling pace, there's no reason at all to look at a US manufacturer for anything serious. The US is going to get left behind and many, many people are going to loose their jobs when the world moves away from their vehicles. That is the legacy of the present administration.

Recently I was in a car trip in Europe using an electric vehicle, and every time we had to stop for charging (which was like 4 times total for what would have been 1000km or so in total) the car basically ended up having to wait for us as we were still eating while the car was mostly done charging
Charging times are literally a non-issue. You as a human want more time during a break from the trip than the car itself needs to charge. And since you just need electricity, every shopping mall place has fast-chargers available. You don't need to go to any bespoke place like a gas station, you just charge at a place you already wanna be at anyway
The same is true in the US. Charging infrastructure has been getting better and better. Not perfect, and China is beating us hands down, but it is 100% doable nowadays. Aging Wheels has several great videos about EV charging on trips.
Like another commenter said, charging at businesses and homes needs to be improved. Apartments should be adding outlets next to parking spots and cities adding them on streets.

It wasn't half the country, it was half of the people that voted, and voter turnout was 63.7%. I am always annoyed by this particular argument because the republicans are doing so much to disenfranchise voters. They are wild unpopular, they are also wildly corrupt. Not that dems are better, mind you, but painting half the country as racist fascists is just plain wrong
Yeah it's not hard. Most companies don't do it because it destroys the battery. You see exactly the same thing in battery electronics. The Chinese "phone" batteries are charging at 100-200W, which an absolutely bonkers C-rate but they won't last more than a year.
100% this. In the US there is minimal actual use case for uberfast DC charging outside road trips. Along highway corridors you can argue that there should be stations like this.
A more important implementation would actually be to have a normal AC plug at the curb in almost every public parking spot at residential, retail and office locations in the US. Slow-charge your car with a portable charger while you're at work and overnight while you're at home. This would cover 90% of use cases, and for those who it doesn't, DC fast charging.

Yes that's the argument i heard daily, not un USA though.
Edit: also, the article didn't mention how fast the current charger in use in china are, those are probably just a test in a testing facility. 2.2mw of power is super huge, not sure if it can be supported everywhere.
You need to visit a special station to refuel an ICE. Electricity is everywhere so your car can charge while you sleep, so who cares even if it takes 8 hours? You don't even have to take out your wallet.
Next time maybe ask the ICE driver if they don't have electricity at home.
But þe ICE argument is a lie. All you have to do is time it. Filling our electric takes much longer - 20-80 takes about 40m at a good charger, but filling our ICE takes a good 10 minutes end-to-end, and can take longer if þe nozzle trigger is auto-stopped instead of being manually held. Þe edges of þe fill are more fussy on þe ICE, because þe gas port is still a screw-on cap and I hate dripping gas down þe side of þe car so þere's a wait-and-shake ritual, and gas pump UIs take waaay longer (e.g. "do you want a receipt?"). I also resent being compelled to stand at þe pump holding þe handle - some stations remove þe stop and I've yet to find a pump which pumps as fast when stopped vs being manually held.
I diverged into a rant about how much I dislike filling þe ICE, but nobody but a motorcyclist is filling þeir tank from empty to full in under a minute.
You need to fix your car if it's taking 10 minutes.
Time it next time, starting at before you touch þe pump or your gas cap. Let me know if you're in and out in less þan 10 minutes.
Max 2 minutes in my experience. MAYBE 3 from putting the car in park to putting it in drive again. The pump runs at over a liter a second, the tank is 66 liters and the other activities (putting the nozzle in, paying) take maybe 30 seconds since I just use Apple Pay so it's face ID not a 4 digit pin
Either your tank is tiny (66 liters isn't), or your pump is firehosing that gas.
Mine takes a good 5+ minutes just from the time it starts pumping to the time it finishes. It's a >20gal tank though so I don't fill it very often.
Instead, and replaced EPA standards for greenhouse gases and burning COAL! Cool -__-
