I dropped off some drycleaning, got gas for both my car and lawnmower, and dropped off a poop sample to my vet. Oh, and a bit of yardwork. And yes, it's exactly what I wanted to be doing.

Tonight my wife will be at the gym so I might finish a garden project.

Then dinner and tidying up.

Followed by video games and then bed.

I'd reckon my day will be about 30% what I want to do which is just slightly above my usual average.

Didn't leave bed, recovering from a CFS crash. I wanted to do some life admin then play some videogames, but I'll try again tomorrow. Burnt through 10 hours of a Let's Play instead (I have a stockpile for such occasions)

Took the fire truck out at 4am to attend a fire call(very small, back in 50min).

Washed and dried 3kg of bulk Lego that I bought a month ago.

Played 2x Azul 3P. On the grey, trickier side of the board.

I woke up, went to work, came home, jerked off, then took a nap. So, no.

I did exactly what I wanted to be doing all day. Woke up with to some slow cooker stew that cooked through the night, played some video games and watched some shows, relaxed and read some book, even went and celebrated an in laws birthday. Now I'm in bed cuddling the dog, waiting for the wife to get her cute ass in here for epic cuddle time before we start the week again. We work opposite shifts during the weeks, so the cuddles are extra important to make up for never seeing each other lol

Woke up super late because I couldn’t sleep last night, started a new loaf of garlic Parmesan sourdough bread, played Stardew Valley for a bit, and then watched the latest episode of Lanterns (which was excellent!).

Overall not a bad day, and I enjoyed it. I just wish I could do a normal day like this without the constant background noise of stress and anxiety (Θ︹Θ)

I spent a large portion of the day debugging open source software and yes, I enjoyed doing that. It would of course have been more convenient if someone else had already done it, but it does give me a nice sense of accomplishment to contribute to the community.

I attended the second day of a union conference. I spent my whole weekend on it. It's not what I'd say would've how I'd have preferred to spend my weekend, but I needed to be there in solidarity of something I helped start.

It was my last official day at the animal rescue for the year. There is still other stuff I can do, but this was my last day with my regular team. So that was a little sad, but I went with 2 of my friends there to hot pot for lunch afterwards. So I really enjoyed that.

I had a great time feeding the baby mice today, which I do not usually enjoy, but they were so sweet today! It was nice to end the term on a surprise high note.

I did get bit by another squirrel, but not near as bad as last week, so that's neutral, just part of the game, and it's rainy and bleh from this noreaster storm, but otherwise a great day and all went as planned!

I worked a full shift, which is not what I wanted to do.

But I did make an awesome lunch which is what I wanted to do.

But it got cut short when I had to deal with a work emergency, which is not what I wanted to do.

But I also got to text with my crush all day which is what I wanted to do.

Finished up installing our new Mailbox/post/house numbers and did some yard work.

Did a couple chores and laid low bc I have work tomorrow and am sick with some mystery bug.

Would rather have baked something but I did that a couple times last week at least so it’s not too painful a loss lol

I hung out with my wife, watched some t.v., played some video games, did some gardening, and surfed the internet.

After a long, busy week, it was exactly how I wanted to spend my weekend. I feel rested and recovered.

It wasn't what I wanted to do today.

I wanted to cry today. I want to cry every day. I hate my life.

Nothing... live in the area of the nor easter and power went out at 5:20am and it woke me. Some crazy winds at that time so not shocked. Didn't get power back until 7:00pm and during the outage I was just kind of depressed and ended up doing nothing. Waste of a weekend when I do have a lot to do sadly. Maybe next week.

I made rice. Like stand and wash it forever rice. Normally I cook the fastest thing, but today I made rice.

It sounds stupid, I know.

I got done about as much as I expected to be able to get done today. So, I'm pretty happy with it.

We walked the dog down to a local Korean place and got bibimbap and banana lattes. My partner got one of those grabby claws and we picked up trash along the way — I think we filled 7-8 plastic grocery bags. I’d rather just hang out and play Palworld, but I’ll enjoy the cleaner streets when we get out to walk the dogs, and I know I should enjoy the sun before the dark returns, so I’m glad we did it.

Got my Jeep home, hasn't been ran in 6 months. I wanted to and didn't want to do it at the same time, it's done though. The clutch was super sticky, as were the brakes, the drums have no brake pads lol, the fluids all need to be changed. But hey it's like a tank and made it home.

Today I submitted a project for a game jam. It's the first one I've finished in a little over two years. Shameless self promotion

On the one hand, yes it's absolutely what I wanted to do. Video games have always been a special interest, and I'd really like to be selling my own games. Plus a jam is a good learning experience and trust me: I'll find all the ways you shouldn't do something.

On the other hand, it's a whole lot of crunch time racing against the clock. Sleepy, migraine, and basically wrung out. Plus the nature of a jam is that you're inevitably shipping a buggy mess that only sorta works - it's basically the antithesis to my work ethic.

But, it's been a long time, I'm happy with what I made, and the stresses of the game have been a very effective escape from the stresses of real life. So overall: yeah, it's what I wanted to be doing

I'm rewriting my soundboard in Rust! /j (It was already written in Rust)

I was restructuring my soundboard to decouple the frontend and backend so it can be run as a daemon easier. Also removing the usage of global variables and avoiding using like 5 locks at once.

I was supposed to buy something off of facebook marketplace, but it’s 2 cities away and an hour drive to get to the seller. I need to plan for that, so I played StarCraft all afternoon instead. Hopefully the item is still available later this week and maybe the seller brings the price down a bit.

Went for a motorbike ride and found a new twisty route which was nice. We stopped at an art center on our way back, the exhibition we visited was inspiring - colorful and abstract or calm and detailed paintings from 3 different Spanish painters. The weather was beautiful: autumn sun, not too cold, colorful trees - perfect for riding.

Went for my morning one-hour walk.

• Lechon Kawali for the freezer. I use this instead of chashu in my ramen. Soooo good. Cut it into 1” squares before freezing and then you just grab what you need.

• Blueberry bran muffins
• Pressure cooked beans for the week
• Portioned out and vac bagged chicken thighs and Italian sausage for the freezer

mmo, bath, dishes, dog walking N junk. pretty much what I planned but I would love to get more done. kinda the minimum I had to get done.

I took three trains to get from Wuppertal to Brussels. The first one was going to be late (you can make jokes about DB) and I was going to miss my connection but I was early at the station, so I took the one that passed an hour before and had to kill a bit of time in Köln.

There was a vegan demo outside the station and I was stupid enough to walk nearby. One of them started to ask me questions. I said I'm not vegan but I agree in general with their cause, that I'm never cooking meat myself, but still eat it on occasion when I'm visiting family or going to a fast food. But she kept insisting about the exploitation while pointing the bloody images. It made me a bit mad, since I'm at least aware and trying. I managed to walk away but I wanted to go back and ask if any of them were driving cars, because that my obsession and those are also killing billions of animals every year (and a few million humans).

Anyway, I managed to catch my connection and finally got to Brussels for my flight back to Montréal tomorrow morning.

I did plan this day, and I did suspect very much that there would be a train delayed for my journey, but the first one was a bit of a surprise. I'm just glad I'll be home soon, because I did what I wanted to do this week (cycle to and fro between Aachen and Monschau, and on the Nordbahnstrasse in Wuppertal) and now I'm just annoyed by this noisy hotel room.
