Think about it, everything gets recycled endlessly liquids, matter, gas,...

At some point you've probably tooted a few molecules that have been tooted by Alexander the great or Ramses before.

All of your farts are the farts of millions of your gut bacteria.

Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of Science™?

[-] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Take a deep breath.

Hold it for a bit, just sit there with that lungful of air.

Inside your chest, you have at least one molecule that came out of Julius Caesar’s expiring breath, the one which halfway went out his back cause of all the holes he spontaneously got for a repetitive reason.

That’s just his one last breath. In your lungs.

Every ex you swore you’d never see again has breathed some of the air in your chest. So has Barack Obama, William Shakespeare, Murasaki Shikibu, Vincent Van Gogh, Usain Bolt, the girl across town you like, Elon Musk, even Hitler, every last human alive or dead, has had air in your chest right now.

Most animals, every plant, every whale and every turtle.

And its all just circulating.

And it’s only borrowed.

You can give it back now.

Praise Terry Gilliam, who also created OP's pic. Part of the MPFC intro animation iirc, which also included the clown doctor (a precursor to The Meaning of Life's Birth scene) which I cannot find a pic or GIF of anywhere.

Every breath you take has a few atoms that belonged to Hitler. Matter gets around.

Damn, I should have read the comments before I posted my thing.

Yours was better, I usually like to be more poetic but I'm feeling laconic lately.

I fart stardust.

Thank you however, for the amazing image that came with the post.

[-] ThatGuyNamedZeus@feddit.org 7 points 2 days ago

Oh... for a second there when I had only seen the title I thought you were on shrooms

We've all probably farted stardust... from the star man waiting in the sky. Or sub atomic particles that used to be iridium

[-] FriendOfDeSoto@startrek.website 5 points 2 days ago

It would probably be a miracle if you hadn't re-farted some molecules.

A cow's fart of you live in the countryside.

This is like a mix of Hieronymus Bosch and Rob Gonsalves while having none of the nice parts from either (I'm a big fan of both but can't say I like this, in a serious way).

[-] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 5 points 1 day ago

I would advise you to steer clear of Monty Python then.

Love Monty Python, but it's not the same kind of appreciation as well done paintings.

Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
