Cortex public information.

Paroxysm is a free, text-only multiplayer roleplaying game (a MUD). It is in early alpha and is for adults only (18+).

In its setting the Second World War ended with a portal to Hell, and a world government called the Cortex now manages the supernatural. Vampire is one of six archetypes, alongside werewolf, faeborn, demonborn, angelborn and demigod.

It runs on a Diku-based codebase. There is no web client: connect with a MUD client or telnet to mud.paroxysmrpg.com, port 3000.

Question for this community: which vampire stories (books, games, films) do you think handle the cost of immortality well? We are building the vampire archetype and would like to read what others value.

Oooh, I love me a good MUD.

I think the Anne Rice books describe the multifacetedness of immortality really well. Different vampires have completely different attitudes.
