Huge bag of whole shrimp on sale at Costco, so I had to make some shrimp and grits! Whipped up a stock from the shells/heads for the grits, finished with a thin gravy made from bacon fat, white wine, and some more shrimp stock. Burnt the crap out of the toast but we didn't really need it anyways.

J-j-j-jumbo! :D

Side note: dammit, I'm such a coward.
Story-time: my brother is allergic to shrimp, and almost died by shrimp buffet one time, or whatever the fuck that was (sorry, temporary Jim Jefferies mode, sorry), but every since then, the whole fambily's been kinda freaked out by crustaceans in terms of edibles.

Which weirdly makes me happy going back to my aquarium days, watching the little shrimp do their fascinating things. Bonus pts: guess which uncle likes to surprise his nephews & nieces here and there with Sea-Monkey starter sets? XD

I love grits man. But where I live now, no one even knows what grits are. It's devastating.

Please enlighten me, I have no idea what grits are

They’re the coarse leftover that doesn’t make it through the sifting process for cornmeal. People in the southern United States make this into flavorless porridge and add lots of other things to it to make it somewhat palatable.

Disclaimer: I have never enjoyed grits, despite my entire family making them constantly and now seeing them in restaurants everywhere as if they’re a culinary delicacy. Someone who likes them would probably describe them differently.

Even though everyone is entitled to their own opinion this one hurts my soul lol. Grits like many carbs are just a base that taste like what you put in it! But it definitely takes a little work to make them delicious.

You'll just have to introduce everyone yourself!

Lmaooo this is exactly what I did with some of the shrimp for my Costco bag of shrimp. Part became part of an egg salad, part became shrimp and lychee stir fry and the shells and heads all became stock for a stock for shrimp and cheese grits.

I've still got some left in the freezer, shrimp and lychee stir fry sounds intriguing! Might have to give that a shot.
