As someone who spent a significant part of their 20s ingesting the alphabet this trend is honestly baffling.

Don't inject vials of material that are alledgedly new compounds with no safety records that at best mess with your cell biology.

You're gonna fucking hurt yourself.

Yeh I was happy to experiment with pills and powder. But drew a line at sticking needles into myself.

At least with pills and powders you can self test small doses. To see what affect they have.

It's less the injecting that's the issue and more the injecting by the sort of people that don't understand why injecting unknown and untested subtances might be bad. You bypass a lot of safety mechanism that destroy or remove weird shit when you inject something, which can be a good idea if it's say insulin for your diabetes. Not so much vial of random crap your hookup pinky promises the vendor swore was cool and safe.

I would never, ever recommend what I have charitably seen called "bioassaying" any compound. If it's not food don't put it in your body unless you have it on good authority (trusted third party, direct physical evidence, regulated market) that it's acceptably risky to do so.

Same dumbasses who think seed oil will make their nuts fall off are injecting random shit they can only buy with Bitcoin from China.

Rock on, good thinking there.

Actually peptides have a big thing going in cosmetics and beauty.

[-] Salvo@aussie.zone 4 points 23 hours ago

So is Botulism!

“A big thing … in Cosmetics” is not a glowing endorsement, in fact it is another argument against!

[-] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 23 hours ago

I am pointing out it's a different group. what on earth gave you the impression was endorsing it?

I hate this hellsite and everyone on it that has the reading comprehension of an iphone baby that's been dropped on their head.

Botox isn't botulism btw, botulism is the illness caused by ingesting the toxin, again please learn to read. You can think botox is silly, but it's not actually harmful. It's not like tanning, alcohol, or eating red meat in that it's necessarily a bad idea.

tanning, alcohol and eating red meat are natural and a good idea

all things in moderation is a good maxim

alcohol: https://www.health.gov.au/topics/alcohol/about-alcohol/how-much-alcohol-is-safe-to-drink and https://adf.org.au/reducing-risk/alcohol/alcohol-guidelines/ both advise in clear terms there is no safe level. This was updated a few years ago in light of new research that threw out the supposed health benefits and collated studies demonstrating widespread organ harm at any consumption level. Take the drug if you want to but don't delude yourself. Use science not vibes you fucking moron.

tanning has no benefit and increases risk of skin cancer. Even using inside beds.

red meat: cancer council recognises cancer causing, nothing in it is necessary /and/ exclusive, high concs saturated fat, prior to maha american dietary association recommended elimination in favour of other foods, contribution to bowel cancer is well established.

Uranium is natural, arsenic is natural, funnelweb venom is natural. What's unnatural is how on every topic you consistently say the stupidest thing I've ever heard. From endorsing genocide to recreational cancer.

The fuck are you on about arguing about iPhone babies dropped on their heads with reading comprehension and then not being able to follow a damn comment chain, lmao

[-] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 22 hours ago

I am replying to someone saying tanning, alcohol, and red meat are good

[-] aldhissla@beehaw.org 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They might have criticised self-treating by laypeople, not the peptides themselves.

[-] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 23 hours ago

lots of unqualified, experimental, or self in cosmetics and beauty

Lots of peptide labs in the U.S. too, compounding facilities that are for research only. Basically these guys buy these, buy anit-bacterial water and reconstitute it and then inject it.

So it’s not all hands off

You've got to remember that these are just simple ~~farmers~~ looksmaxxers . These are people of the land. The common clay of the new ~~west~~ Internet. You know... morons.

Waiting for the beingkindtochildrenandanimalsmaxxing trend, that one might actually get some people laid.

[-] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 22 hours ago

Alas, veganism will never take off as a beauty trend because it's something you have to do not buy.

[-] No1@aussie.zone 1 points 21 hours ago

You better not mention fasting, or there is gonna be big trouble!

[-] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 20 hours ago

It'll be a flash in the pan.

Fasting doesn't take up much room in the cultural conversation.

Fasting is a pretty insubstantial movement.

Idk I got nothing

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 22 hours ago

I think we already have a trend with animals and children.
