This is what you voted for protest-non-voters.

I've heard that the Purity Ponies are much like Kim Jong-un - they are so perfect, they don't even need to relieve themselves!

Such magical beings. We could all aspire to be like them.

America isn't this way because of Trump. Trump is this way because of America.

Trump isn't the hero America needs, but he's the one America deserves. It's just a shame the rest of the world has to suffer because of American ignorance, entitlement and apathy.

[-] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 hours ago

You might want to check that election data again because Trump would have won with or without Harris receiving those "protest votes." If you want to blame someone for this mess, blame the party leaders who put their thumb on the scale to foist the absolute worst possible candidates on us three presidential elections in a row. This is the result of those party leaders trying to straddle the line of serving the same corporate donors that Republicans do while pretending to stand for "the people "

[-] 13igtyme@startrek.website 4 points 2 hours ago

Aside from Kamala, the others had primaries. Primaries historically have 10% voter turnout. Blame the people that don't vote in primaries then bitch about bad candidates.

[-] teslekova@lemmy.ml 2 points 18 minutes ago

Pretty big "aside from" there...

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Who's blaming. I am informing protest-non-voters what they voted for.

[-] Radical_Socialist_t00t@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 hours ago

Optimist of you to think votes had anything to do with putting trump back in the white house and giving congress away to the conservatives.

the federal government sent election officials in Los Angeles County an unverified list of 20,000 people it claims are “likely noncitizens” registered to vote in California. [...] federal agents used the list to make the more than two dozen targeted arrests on the basis of its voter fraud allegations. [...] The 11 arrestees are among 28 people the department officially charged—and all are from its list of 20,000 targets in the election. The press release claims that every person targeted is a legal permanent resident of the US but not a citizen.

No words.

“Every illegal vote cancels out the vote of a lawful American citizen,”

So it's the Great Replacement Theory applied to voting.

[-] DocMcStuffin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

We've seen this same story play out in Nevada.

https://www.techdirt.com/2026/10/01/dhss-nevada-illegal-voter-claims-have-dropped-from-16000-to-200-to-zero-in-less-than-a-month/

They claim huge numbers, but when it's time to provide the evidence, they come up empty handed. That's why we are seeing the show of force with cameras and the media blitz. To create the perception of voter fraud to hide the fact that actual voter fraud is rare.

We know their numbers are bullshit too via Propublica:

HSI’s involvement in the hunt for election fraud traces at least to summer 2025, when agency supervisors embraced a proposal from a midlevel agent who’d publicly echoed Trump’s claims about elections. He argued the agency’s powerful databases and tools could find noncitizens even on the voter lists that states make publicly available, from which the most confidential information has been redacted. Under Trump, the Justice Department had collected many public voter rolls as part of a controversial effort to compel states to turn over the unredacted versions.

Those searches went forward, ProPublica’s reporting shows, helping to generate tens of thousands of leads regarding illegal voting across the country. But when HSI agents were sent to investigate them, the results were similar to what Teirab reported from Minnesota.

Between January 2025 and May 2026, a ProPublica analysis of Justice Department data shows, fewer than 150 alleged noncitizen voters were referred for prosecution. Even fewer — 41 — were charged with voting illegally or other election-related crimes. (More than 150 million people voted in the most recent presidential election.)

[...]

There’s an array of reasons why Trump’s campaign to document claims of widespread voter fraud hasn’t succeeded. Most obviously, it’s exceedingly rare, as countless studies and state audits have found. Noncitizens often get on voter rolls by accident or when government officials make errors. Last month, New Jersey disclosed that a mistake involving its Motor Vehicle Commission caused 6,600 noncitizens to be registered (fewer than 400 voted).

wait dint nevada go to trump? and its mainly a red state.

[-] DocMcStuffin@lemmy.world 1 points 13 minutes ago* (last edited 11 minutes ago)

Nevada is weird. Dem and Rep are about the same. Independents ~~out number both~~ are a plurality (ninja edit). Dems dominate Senate and House seats. The governor is a Rep. The state voted Trump, Biden, Clinton, Obama, Obama, Bush, Bush.

Party Total voters Percentage
Democratic 569,337 27.61%
Republican 568,665 27.58%
Independent American 82,903 4.02%
Libertarian 13,620 0.66%
Other parties 30,806 1.49%
Nonpartisan 796,805 38.64%
Total 2,062,136 100.00%

as if CA is going to vote for trump lol. its just sound bites for faux news, to scare the magats, how shithole blue areas are. alot of travel influencers(conservatives) solely go to blue areas to do the same, and only visit extremely proverty stricken areas.

[-] akilou@sh.itjust.works 15 points 6 hours ago

“Every illegal vote cancels out the vote of a lawful American citizen,”

Not if they both vote for the same person

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 hour ago

if it cancels out, then nobody actually voted.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

The obvious implication is that only MAGAs are "lawful American citizens."

Remember, the Trump regime has already declared all anti-fascists to be enemies of the state.

[-] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

But but but 28 votes were saved! Surely democracy is safe now

[-] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world 23 points 7 hours ago

On Monday, federal authorities announced the arrest in California of at least 11 people, and charges against 28, alleging they registered to vote as noncitizens.

Whoa! 28 people! That's essentially zero, statistically speaking, which is exactly what knowledgeable people have been saying for years: that voter fraud is basically non-existent, and that it's not at all worth spending millions of dollars to combat.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 hour ago

to distract from actual voter fraud the GOP is actually doing. voter suppression, ballot purging, closing count immediately as a gop is in the lead.

[-] IamSparticles@lemmy.zip 19 points 7 hours ago

And keep in mind that they've done nothing to actually verify that A) the people they've arrested are not citizens and B) that if they are not, that they actually registered to vote. In their own words, the list is of "likely non-citizens." So basically, they have a list of people who are permanent residents. If you, a citizen, happen to have the same name as someone on that list, and you're registered to vote, you are at risk of being arrested. Or, vice versa, if a person on that list has the same name as someone registered to vote, they might get arrested even though they did nothing wrong.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 hour ago

its the time of the year again, create sound bites for faux news to consme, that dems are rigging elections

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 11 points 6 hours ago

It affects a handful of people directly but it's intended to intimidate many more.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

These are charges, not convictions.

[-] nao@sh.itjust.works 28 points 8 hours ago

do they really believe people will vote for them because they are arresting people who weren't going to vote for them

[-] TheFogan@programming.dev 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

No they believe that if they stop everyone who will vote against them from voting, that the handful of die hard supporters will carry the rest. They aren't trying to motivate the base, they are trying to either arrest or intimidate the opposition.

[-] Unleaded8163@fedia.io 43 points 8 hours ago

They don't need any more people to vote for them, they just need more people to not vote against them.
