Customers outside Quebec

The real answers to Quebec separatism has always been for English Canada to be more like Quebec.

Except for antimuslim laws.

Please fewer videos or at least post transcripts. Im not giving youtube clicks but this seems important.

Yeah, I have no idea why this needs to be a video

Long past time to bring out the pitchforks.

Customers outside Quebec

  1. English Canada needs better consumer protection laws
  2. Canada needs a nationalised alternative to Visa/MasterCard like a Interac (There's debit but also add credit) or Digital Dollar

I live in Quebec and I am pretty sure I pay a $10 fee for paying my Bell bill with my credit card.

[-] i_love_FFT@jlai.lu 2 points 15 hours ago

Paying Bell is a surcharge fee in itself.

[-] Canconda@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

EU also lacks one. Hopefully our partnership with them results in one.

If it’s anti-consumer then you should automatically assume Rogers is either doing it, will do it, or did it and got caught but the CRTC did nothing.

What they should be doing instead is give a percentage discount for not using a credit card.

Every time you pay with your credit card it's like you're paying a 2-3% tax to the US. The credit card company gives you a part of that back as "rewards" to motivate customers to continue using it but really it's just raising prices for everyone even those who don't pay by credit card. Meanwhile Interac's processing fees are significantly lower.

We're sending hundreds of millions of dollars to the US by using our credit cards to pay for everything. I wish people realized that.

Kind of the same thing. But it does sound nicer.

I'm all for credit card charges. Without them people not using credit cards are subsidizing credit card users.

And it happens to be.. that poorer people use credit cards less, it's a bit perverse.

[-] tempest@lemmy.ca 3 points 20 hours ago

Except costs won't go down for those subsidising CC usage. Rogers will simply report more profit and raise prices further anywhere they can.

I'd drop credit cards in a heartbeat if I thought it was safe to use direct debit cards out in the world or cash made a comeback.

[-] nik282000@lemmy.ca 3 points 18 hours ago

Like fuck am I going to give Rogers or Bell direct access to my bank account. They can barely keep their services up in good weather when they aren't nuking their own DNS or harpooning fiber with post hole diggers.

[-] zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 hours ago

Exactly my thoughts.

[-] BCsven@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

Sounds like Rogers is asking me to change to another provider

[-] tempest@lemmy.ca 4 points 20 hours ago

All of them will be doing the same within 3 months max. There's no competition for mobile service in Canada (except SaskTel).

[-] engene@lemmy.ca 5 points 23 hours ago

I use a Rogers Mastercard for my billing. Does it apply to their own credit card? 🤔

[-] tempest@lemmy.ca 5 points 20 hours ago

You know it will.

[-] Auli@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

What bullshit.
