To hear the former Yahoo CEO tells it, the creepy AI assistant is meant to help women delegate monotonous chores.

“Women, this is my own bias, tend to take more photos and are more visual, and so being able to work with AI in a visual medium is fun,” Mayer told the NYT. “It essentially understands your personality, your likes, your dislikes, because it knows what you think looks good.”

Fucking bleak.

I recently went to a AI talk for normies and business leaders. An Nvidia VP was there doing outreach. He talked about having a dad version of himself and his son in AI that he used to become a better father. He was using it to test what to say. He said “maybe the AI is more empathetic than me” but that it had helped their relationship. I’m walked away with a sick feeling in my stomach after the talk. The older business boomers thought it was marvelous. I thought he needed therapy.

Also the dude wore an Nvidia green suit. Which at first I thought was quirky and fun. After it seemed like they built him in a factory.

As part of her interview with the NYT, the startup founder even told a story about how she tapped Dazzle for the grueling undertaking of identifying things that make her daughter special.

The task was part of an assignment from her 10-year-old daughter Marielle’s grade school teacher. It was pretty simple: come up with three bullet points summating what made Marielle special. Overwhelmed with the “range and complexity of potential answers,” as the NYT tells it, Mayer asked Dazzle.

She had AI do her homework for her. I'm sure that's great behavior to model for your kids. One of the things the AI returned with is that her daughter is an animal lover. Lmao. I feel bad because I'm essentially laughing at the fact this girls mom is too incompetent/self absorbed to list 3 things about her child, but really what are my options? She asked the AI for a birthday theme for her son and he told her he didn't like it and she said "I just can't help it". As though it was her desire to be an over involved parent and not her lack of empathy and understanding towards her own child that was the problem.

The article was very short, but really everyone should read it. I can only hope that this article is all lies to hype up her startup and the reason the examples all seem so stupid is because she never actually used it.

How is Yahoo! not dead because of her? And how is she still relevant to the public?

Google employee number 20 still holds cache' in the investor circles probably. She probably has a deep contact list. People know she’s a name, good or bad, they want to grow and flip for profit. She’s already done one buyout since Yahoo.

Mayer told the paper, evidently proud of outsourcing the task of knowing basic facts about her own child.

Why are these 'journalists' or whomever are doing these interviews not laughing her out of the room.

Fucking epic.

Well worth the read.

Nothing I could add here is more damning, really.

Laughing at idiocy is fun, but there's an optimistic part of my soul that hopes she wises up and gets clean in time to make some real connection with her kids.

The deepest, most genuine laughs we have are always simultaneously a form of crying.
