Mozilla’s Thundermail email service uses Stalwart.

In principle, it's a pretty good "all-in-one" server, and I even wanted to switch to them until I checked the documentation and saw that the Community version doesn't filter From with valid authentication. This means that anyone who is properly authorized can send an email from any address on the server out of the box. In short, if I understood the documentation correctly, it's a decent option for hosting your own mailbox, but for even small-scale mass use, postfix + dovecot still wins.

I do not think that this is correct. Otherwise multiple permission features that are part of the community branch would not make sense. Like "impersonate".

Do you have a link to the part in the documentation?

Unfortunately, I lost the section. But I've already been told that everything works correctly according to the tests, so I was just mistaken.

Yeah this is straight up wrong from my practical testing

Thank you. Apparently, I misunderstood the documentation. I will try to deploy it anyway.

And there is a last reason, which is less rigorous but matters to us just as much. We write software because we enjoy writing software [...] We are not interested in optimizing away the reason we do this.

Holy fucking shit. I read the whole thing and I even enjoyed reading it. This has to be the most sane shit I’ve read all month. This is THE definition of “how to use a tool”. I freaking love it.

Those 4 points for AI code writing are extremely well thought out. I can really respect that.

[-] Ooops@feddit.org 9 points 13 hours ago

That reads much too sane for today's ~~idiot mud fight~~ discussions about AI.

If we could marry it to openarchiver it would be so sweet.

You understand that, with a store-and-forward service, speed doesn't mean a damned thing, right?

You DO get that .. right?

It's like gauging English spelling based on what's popular on Youtube.

[-] False@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

It matters when it comes to scaling

[-] autonomous@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

The fastest mail server for the slowest and least secure communication protocol 😅

Reminds me of both jumping and jacks together as one. With no dashes or whatever these are "*"
