I don't have a cat but if I did probably Mochi, toast or crumpets

[-] GiantChickDicks@lemmy.ml 3 points 47 minutes ago

One of my cats was named Wasabi by the shelter. Her name is Noodles, so I'm not sure if I helped or not.

[-] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago

Get over here, Kentucky Fried Chicken!

[-] genuineparts@infosec.pub 18 points 7 hours ago

Coleslaw is a perfectly cromulent cat name.

Food? You can easily get away with naming your cat after the Turkish word for cannibal.

Duckduckgo translate showing "yamyam" means "cannibal" in Turkish

[-] stopforgettingit@lemmy.world 77 points 12 hours ago

I am Chinese and I have had cats named Honey, Sugar, Maple and Pepper.

My ex named her two cats Pork and Beans

[-] UpAndAtThem@lemmy.world 109 points 13 hours ago

Casserole (Cass for short) is unironically a good cat name.

[-] arrow74@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 hours ago

Or role for short

"These are my fur babies, Cass and Cole!

They're a bonded pair."

[-] calliope@retrolemmy.com 24 points 13 hours ago

I know someone who has a dog named Casserole!

Hmmm, my girlfriend is black and named our cat Miso... so..

[-] AHorseWithNoNeigh@piefed.social 26 points 11 hours ago

I think 'Emergency Rations' is a perfectly acceptable name for a cat.

[-] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 3 points 2 hours ago

The ongoing joke about Paimon being emergency food will never not be funny.

[-] fireweed@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Poor Menchi (aka "Emergency Food Supply")!

(Source: Excel Saga)

[-] AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Be careful of "Poutine", because it sounds troublesome. Most other Canadian foods like, "Maple," "Weed," and "Syrup" are good, though.

[-] Funkt4st1c@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

As an american, what sounds bad about poutine? The vaguely-pussy-sound? Its a cat, so that's kind of a fun pun

[-] AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

That'd be the reason, though you make a reasonable counter-argument!

Also, I'm from Oregon. I'm just making sure our neighbors are adequately represented.

[-] sundray@lemmus.org 48 points 12 hours ago

ITT: Lots of people’s security questions.

[-] I_am_10_squirrels@beehaw.org 2 points 1 hour ago

And nobody paying the pet tax

[-] daychilde@lemmy.world 15 points 11 hours ago

Yeah, as if people won't post their actual passwords, like mine is hunter2.

[-] daychilde@lemmy.world 9 points 11 hours ago

Oh shit, that really was his password! It's not anymore, though! HAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!!

[-] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 11 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

I only see it as asterisks. Can you see mine?

"*******"

[-] daychilde@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago

Yeah, yours is clearly "*******". Here I go *******ing down the street shouting ******* ******* *******!!!"

[-] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

NO!!! IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE SECRET!!!!!

[-] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 35 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

This person has never met white people if they don't think we already name our pets after white food too.

e: Also never met other asians if they've never met an asian cat owner who named their cat mochi.

Diagnosis: Terminally online shut-in.

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago

Orange cats are required by law to be named after food.

[-] psycotica0@lemmy.ca 1 points 25 minutes ago

I had one named Leo. Like the lion. I'm here to apply for an exception to the otherwise reasonable rule.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 65 points 14 hours ago

Food names are cute on pets regardless of origin! I would totally name a cat "Butter" or "Paprika" or something.

[-] miked@piefed.social 3 points 2 hours ago

Had a dog named Butters. He was adopted as a senior and couldn't hear well so it didn't matter what we called him. We just kept the name he had.

I can't find his pic right now. I think I'd have to reboot into Windows to find it.

[-] z500@startrek.website 4 points 8 hours ago

Butter dog: it's the dog with the butter

[-] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 hours ago

In France: but Casserole??! (it only means pan, like the sauce pan)

[-] Broadfern@lemmy.world 34 points 13 hours ago

Yeah seeing a pet named Sandwich or French Fry would not even cross my radar except to coo over the animal lol

[-] BreadOven@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago
