Was expecting worse framerates but the videos make it look almost tolerable.

I hope this gets better, because fuck Nintendo. They deserve to be blindsided by an emulator right when the gaming is getting good.

I mean, the switch 2 is nothing magical from the hardware side. Even the first was genuinely shitty compared to flagship smartphones of the time. Nintendo simply fundamentally fails to understand the environment they're dealing with these days.

A Switch cost half what a flagship mobile phone cost and the Switch 2 has been immensely successful.

[-] makyo@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Yeah they understand their market just fine I think, it’s just that most people here aren’t the target audience

[-] datavoid@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

And yet Nintendo stock is worth half of what it was before switch 2 launched... I don't understand economics

[-] spankysalmon@fedinsfw.app 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

And yet the flagship phones have MUCH better screens, FAR more functionality, and oh yeah.., WAY more licensing fees.

Never mind that the actual hardware cost is far below EITHER price tag, at the time.

Nintendo fucks their customers harder. They're almost as bad as old Apple fans, justifying getting fucked in the ass for ... clout?! Clown customers.

The very definition of "mindless consumers".

At least they don't get fucked in terms of game quality and in-game greed.
W nintendo developers Fuck Nintendo lawyers / management / executives.

Outside of the fact that Nintendo games basically never go on sale, though that could also be chalked up to shitty management/execs.

Of course the workers themselves are good. A company really has to try to have shitty workers.

I’ve played some rps3 roms on my steam deck that make this look glorious in comparison.

I’m looking forward to this.

RPCS3 on Steam Deck isn't as bad, as it should be, given what we emulate. It depends on the games off course, I don't expect the most complex 3D games to run well. However this is just from what I read, I'm personally too scared to try it out.

I can't wait to try Playstation 5 emulation on Steam Deck. Hol' on, what? Well the PS5 is x86 too and the emulators aren't emulating the entire CPU. Obviously GTA 6 won't run well, if any, but there will be more simple games that will work.

For Switch 2, maybe simple games. The system has enough problems running Switch 1 games.

Of course it’ll get better, this is essentially just a proof of concept that it’s possible.

[-] ripcord@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

That's way more than "almost tolerable"

People are wising up to them, though. Keeping the projects hosted in countries where the ninjas can't pressure them off and laying low so they don't get targeted like smea.

[-] FauxLiving@lemmy.world -3 points 1 day ago

It's also getting to the point where some nerd with a lot of DDR5 can vibe code a complete replacement emulator from scratch in a few days on hardware running in their basement.

[-] shiroininja@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Cool, but this article feels so AI generated. Especially towards the end.

[-] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah, I swear, I love our lemmy content posters, but why must links always be from content farms or tabloids?

Does no one ever click through to see where they copied the news from? Does it never occur to posters “huh, this site is spam, maybe I should find another, if not the original source?”

[-] Tattorack@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

The emulator is also AI generated, for sure. Nobody was talking about the possibility of an emulator before the Switch 2 even gets exploited and decrypted.

It's hardly been a month since the AI "hack" of the Switch 2 and suddenly we have a Switch 2 emu.

[-] piccolo@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Or the emulator is based on switch emulator but wasnt possible until someone got their hands on the encryption keys.

We are all ai. Life is ai. God is ...actually God is that weird Jeff guy you used to work with.
