As someone who is currently still in education for their degree looking at the current (and likely future) economic and societal outlook, it seems like employment in fields that cause/perpetuate negative issues in the world (Big Tech/Military-Industrial Complex, industries contributing to climate change, predatory sales/financial firms) continue to maintain strong employment availability and salaries as time goes on.

However, fields that have a neutral or beneficial impact on society and the world (Medical care, Food service, public infrastructure, humanitarian aid work, environmental research), either don't have enough available positions that people are able to transition into, have worsening working conditions due to poor management or limited resources, or just don't pay a living wage to most who work there.

I've read about the broken window fallacy, and I understand how focusing on personal gain without considering the impacts on the wider picture doesn't make for a better world. But can someone feel justified contributing to the "broken windows" of the world knowing that they weren't presented functional alternative pathways, and try to contribute towards the solution in other ways?

I think I stumbled onto this video years ago when I was trying Linux Mint (on Cachyos now BTW :3)

I made this myself as a kid at my grandfather's workshop. Kept it to this day :)

I used to have an older account (same username but lemm.ee) with a bunch of posts here that I realize are now basically gone. Would anyone be upset if I resubmit those posts on here over time?

(I know that you're supposed to post anything, but I know reposts can be annoying lol, so figured I'd ask)

Flavor does not matter, presentation does not matter but the food shouldn't make you sick, and should ideally have enough calories per day for the average person to survive (2000 kcal min).

Edit: I am not in any danger of starving or malnutrition, nor am I insolvent. I'm mainly asking this question out of curiosity on how people would approach a solution :)

I haven't done this, but I likely need to do this.

I bought these, and I don't know if this was a brilliant or idiotic idea.

Hey, I'm thinking of upgrading from my old work laptop (which isn't really built for gaming at all, but is great for productivity), and I was eyeing either an OLED steam deck or a more powerful laptop that I could bring with me and use on campus away from my home setup. I plan on using linux for either machine, but I was wondering if any of the Steam Deck's secret sauce or price to performance puts it ahead compared to a Framework or Gaming laptop.

Also, if anyone has experience using a steam deck as a workstation/portable work setup, I would love your input on if it's a good idea to replace a laptop with a steam deck entirely.
