The lawsuit sounds like it should be directed at the gop ever since the powell memo, and all the sneaky, deceitful propaganda they've spread and made the world worse rather than better, with all their lies that hurt people.

There’s some plaque in that man’s arteries that could save Texas from his disgusting antics. Here’s hoping it comes loose soon.

This lawsuit also comes as Harris County is shattering early voting records, with over 950,000 residents having cast their ballots and one day of early voting still left. The previous record for a nonpresidential election was 855,711 people in 2018.

“Ken Paxton filed this lawsuit in the final days of voting because he wants to stop Houstonians from going to the polls. He’s whining about ads that do nothing more than tell neighbors when to vote and where to get information about voting,” Texas Democratic Congressman Christian D. Menefee wrote online. “Paxton is upset that diverse voters across Harris County are making their voices heard. He doesn’t like that in this election, people are showing up in big numbers in neighborhoods like Third Ward, Acres Homes, Cypress, Tidwell, and Sunnyside.

I thought the head line was so bombastic.

“By specifically directing voting advertisements to these and many other racial or ethnic ‘detailed targeting’ terms, it is readily apparent that Harris County is attempting to increase the likelihood that only certain racial and ethnic groups—but not all—will vote,” the lawsuit reads. “In any event, there can be no legitimate reason for Harris County to intentionally target voter advertisements toward this peculiar assortment of African American, Asian, and Latino ethnicities, cultural interests, and countries, but not toward any European ethnicities.”

But no, JFC, that is exactly what he said.

Why do you think the right wing activists mounted a campaign to destroy ACORN, using bullshit fraudulent journalism?

It's the same reason they dislike things like early voting, mail-in voting and so on. Any effort to make it easier to vote they oppose, because they want to find ways to hand elections to the racist party.

The conservatives absolutely lost their minds when Obama won two terms, but they went nuts again under Covid. For many reasons. But part of that was, yes, they initially thought it was going to affect black people more and that didn't really pan out. Also I think a part of that had to do with mail-in voting that was put into place in some areas.

The fact that it actually stopped the ads is tragic. It clearly has no legs to stand on but achieved the goal.

What in tarnation?! Now how's he supposed to win if you keep reminding the coloreds to vote!

This is literally his thought process.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

That's why they set out to destroy ACORN.

I'm curious when his skin suit is going to break apart and thousands of cockroaches will pour out of it.

[-] artyom@piefed.social 20 points 1 day ago

Kenny sure doesn't like it when we tell people to vote. Better do it harder.

Dude, white Republicans must be fucking depressed. Like, the bigotry is still their, it's clearly the only thing left fueling them. But God damn. Having to cope with the gas prices, the economic failures, a datacenter poisoning your lungs and ears. Listening to your president talk about his ballroom and golf course renovations on social media all day.

Can we get some "it'll be ok white people" ads? That's what Paxton is projecting right now. His entire voter base is too depressed to get off the couch. These red state Republicans never have had to actually try to win an election.

There there Pax. It'll be ok. We just need some DEI for old white rascist shitbags.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

A lot of them still just don't give a fuck if the most they achieve is "making liberals cry again".

They are so fucking broken-brained.

The cult. Yes. But the cult is shrinking and it's leader will be dead in the next 5, maybe 10ish, years if we're unlucky.

The cult henchman (politicians) do care and are having a hard time right now dealing with the backlash. Complaining about trans girls in sports doesn't really work when people can't afford gas to drive to their job.

The 30% cult is still filled with the most out of touch and uneducated Americans. They are still reachable in a way, at least their children and next generation with the right education. But there is at least 15-20% that are just old, privileged, and upset that their children won't talk to them. And that problem will solve itself with time.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Is the cult shrinking, though? If you look at Nixon's support even as he resigned....I have my doubts.

They may be a bit directionless for a bit and "go teabagger" again for a while after he's gone. But that's just until they can find the next awful asshole to rally around.

[-] wheezy@lemmy.ml 1 points 7 hours ago

Nixon wasn't a cult. There isn't a real comparison in past presidents on approval ratings. Cults don't usually shrink slowly. They have splits that occur. It's in a hardened defensive state right now. They moved to private land and built a fenced off hideout. Breaking out takes a larger event. But the complaints are open secrets. The sewage is backed up. The crops aren't growing. People are getting sick. But everyone is too deep and too far in to say anything. We have to wait til the leader asks everyone to drink the Koolaid.

The irony of the Zionist comedian that's used her "racial identity" to justify genocide being "white" in this. The continuous confirmation that "white" is a made up social construct that is either used to signal to hate for an outgroup; or in her case, remove it as an identity when it's convenient to use her Jewish "racial identity" as a shield for an emotional support apartheid state.

Also, relevant louis ck from before that video was made; that was basically what the video you linked was ripping off. Kind of blatantly.

https://youtu.be/7AbxHo9ybD0

Still, appreciate the sharing. Not directed at you. But, fuck Sarah Silverman. And Louis CK is also a weird sex pest.

Though both the video and his standup are pointing to white privilege and racial constructs as comedy. So both are good in a vacuum.

I honestly wish they'd do us all a favor and just kill themselves

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Pretty sure the counter argument is going to be “voting representation is lowest among minority groups because they face significant hurdles to voting.”

Also Ken Paxton should get fucked by a giant cactus.
