Our enemies benefit more from the orange skidmark remaining alive, to the extent that he still is.

[-] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 hours ago

Depends which ones, the Iranians would like to see the back of him.

Yes, obviously, he's the leader of their party and President.

[-] Frenchgeek@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 day ago

Two questions: Are they networked? And does Air force one sometimes gets in range?

[-] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

Jfc can you imagine any other shitbag president installing SAMs at his country club?

[-] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 9 points 1 day ago

Air to surface missiles should have been installed long ago...nose down.

Future history textbooks will have lots to say about “Clusterfuck’s Last Stand”

[-] NovaVeles@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago

I do wonder what the history books will say in a few hundred years after it all get muddled up through horrible book keeping and the power grid being blowup by the sun.

"The king in Orange 'Donald Jonald Trunp' made his last stand at his now atlantis style sunken kindom castle of Margarittaville, where he summond dragons of fire and brimstone called MAGA's."

Apparently, their taking Iranian threats seriously. And they should. I'd be nervous too if I was protected by a secret service that allowed an bumbling assassin to take 7 shots at at me.

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

That was Biden's USSS, after he purged it of MAGA. Imagine how bad they are now.

[-] NovaVeles@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

The ABC here in Australia did a great summary of how the Secret service is being stretched by budget and staff cuts at a time when Trump is a big target of Iran.

To be fair the Iraq military has a $10 million bounty on Trump. That can get a lot of people over there very motivated and they would been seen as heroes in their country if they succeed.

If they need help, I'm sure there are Americans that will help them for free and no desire for the bounty.

Their country and ours.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 9 points 1 day ago

Please. Those had to be staged, to support his arguments for his bunker ballroom.

[-] NovaVeles@lemmy.world -4 points 1 day ago

Possible. To be fair, the bunker was necessary as the previous one was woefully inadequate. The ugly ballroom, that is all Trump ego.

[-] Flower@sh.itjust.works 23 points 2 days ago

Sea-to-lake mansion. He said he didn't want any Spanish.

Surface-to-air missile systems have been deployed at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort as the Secret Service warns of a “heightened threat environment”.

Two Avenger air defence systemshave been placed on a floating barge near Mr Trump’s Florida residence, according to photos published by the Palm Beach Daily News.

[-] historicaldocuments@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

have been placed on a floating barge

I guess there weren't any open patches of ground to put them on.

[-] multifariace@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

At least there aren,t any eyesores like windmills.

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Probably so they have a clear view of the sky without shooting through a palm tree.

[-] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 4 points 1 day ago

I used to live in the area (actually right across the water from Mar-A-Lago in the El Cid neighborhood) and there really isn’t. Not in any place that might actually be workable for defense.

I guess they know what they're doing. Every golf course I've ever been on has landscaping to set up secluded holes and to put tractor sheds and pump houses out of immediate sight. I guess that's what I expected

[-] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 1 points 18 hours ago

There isn’t a golf course at Mar-a-Lago. The course is a few miles south and in West Palm (hilariously in a fairly rough part of town). But there’s way more green there than I remembered. But I’m guessing they don’t want guests to look out a window and see a missile battery on the lawn lol.

[-] historicaldocuments@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

Well I'm completely missing something then. If there's no golf then what's the place for?

Also, grass parking with a half empty parking lot?

[-] ms_lane@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

It was originally built as a presidential residence.

Then Trump bought it after the US Government offloaded it and much later it's now technically a presidential residence.

[-] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 1 points 18 hours ago

I’m assuming that the the grass on the lake/intracoastal side (left hand in the photo) is parking for events and tennis. But the place is basically a dinner club. I’ve only ever been to the older clubs (used to date a girl whose family was generationally loaded and were members at the Beach, Sailfish, and Everglades clubs—none of which wouldn’t admit Trump as a member, which is why he turned Mar-a-Lago into a club in the first place). But they’re just overwrought places where the ultra rich socialize, eat, and have fancy parties.

[-] historicaldocuments@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

That puts some context to it.

I was imagining something entirely different.

[-] NovaVeles@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Didn't want the golf course grass to be hurt.

[-] whatmeworry@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Common misconception. There’s not actually a golf course at Mar a lago. It’s literally just a big gaudy mansion, some tennis courts, some landscaping. Also notable it’s only about a mile down the road from where Jeffrey Epstein used to live.

[-] lennybird@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I always think of C&C Zero Hour Avengers units when I see these. Brings back loads of memories pwnin the noobs on Twilight Flame.

Microin' on 3 fronts.

[-] IckabodKobain@feddit.online 2 points 1 day ago

This kind of makes me wanna playing Starcraft now

[-] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Still at least they're not surface to surface (the kind he might aim a protestors).

I wonder with all the failed assassination attempts whether anyone will think to try firing one at Marine One (the presidential chopper).

[-] A1kmm@lemmy.amxl.com 1 points 16 hours ago

Russia has used their surface-to-air missiles to attack ground-based targets (particularly when short of other missiles), so just because that's not their primary purpose doesn't mean they can't be used for that.

That said, missiles are very expensive and their benefit to an attacker is their long range, so insurrectionists would likely only use them for long range attacks when they can't get close to their targets.

That said, it's definitely putting nearby civilians at risk - and so is highly inappropriate as opposed to moving Trump somewhere else, like the White House where he should be anyway, rather than a club that's been repeatedly mentioned in relation to Epstein. It's prioritising something other than public safety for sure.
