You are missing Epstein's best friend Donald

[-] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago

The disrespect to a war hero is untenable.

[-] DonJefe@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

What war hero? Donald "bone spurs" TrUmP

Not the Nazis, the Japanese. He served on the Pacific front. No wonder he's pissed all the time.

Also, it's interesting he served in the Army. I thought we would've been in the Navy, for obvious reasons.

[-] DonJefe@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I see, you are talking about a different Donald. I was talking about the Pedo in Chief, Donald Trump. Also known as Epstein's best friend

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

Scrooge McDuck had a lot of issues, but come on

Just because someone refuses to wear pants doesn't make them a pedophile. Live and let live.

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 67 points 2 days ago

I tried rewatching these, to re-live some happy part of my childhood. Turns out Scrooge McDuck is actually a giant asshole.

[-] Akasazh@lemmy.world 38 points 2 days ago

His namesake kinda gives it away

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 day ago

A Christmas Carol is basically about class conflict.

All of Charles Dickens' works are, actually...

[-] mystik@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

In 2026, there would have been an episode where he partners with the techbros (which are related to the Beagle Bros some how) to get rich off of "selling intelligence", Only to be stopped by his nephews uncovering a deep conspiracy to take over the world at the last minute(a partnership with Magika and Glomgold, perhaps) , and Scrooge pivoting to making a tidy profit from selling all the DRAM and renting data center space he's suddenly come into possession of. It would have been a 2-episode season-ending cliffhanger.

[-] CosmicDebris@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 2 days ago

I think the remake with David Tenant seemed really good. Didn't finish it, however.

[-] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

When I was a kid, DuckTales was the show that made me notice the hollowness that pervades all Disney productions. Never understood why it was popular.

[-] madmantis24@lemmy.wtf 5 points 1 day ago

Catchy theme song, licensed NES game was pretty good and had a soundtrack to match

[-] Akido37@lemmy.world 59 points 2 days ago

“Eat the rich” absolutely includes Scrooge.

[-] tutter@lemmy.blahaj.zone 34 points 2 days ago

Definitely. Although hed be the only one id be a little sad about, duck tales propaganda got me as a child sorry to say. But the hoarding cannot be excused.

[-] bonesawmcl@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago

But he'd be the most edible at least

[-] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Crispy ginger duck, duck a l'orange, duck confit, etc.

[-] notabot@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

So, I get where you're coming from, but Scrooge McDuck seems to have two key differences from your average flesh-and-blood billionaire, one, his fortune seemed to be in actual, tangible, assets (mostly gold coins and other currency), rather than imaginary share valuations, and two, he was unwilling to spend a cent of it if it could be avoided, including on things like buying politicians. The net result was that the gold and currency was removed from circulation, which would increase the value, and thus buying power, of what was left, without exerting any influence itself.

Another key difference is that he liked to dive face first into his fortune, and if other billionaires did that, the problem would largely solve itself.

[-] LwL@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

He did regularly exploit everything for maximum profit though, so really he'd still be a problem, even though he's not power hungry. And to protect his wealth he'd totally meddle in politics too (there's probably more than one comic where that happens).

Well, he is at least often shown to have some amount of conscience left. Which is probably more than any real-life billionaire, at least the ones you've heard the names of.

[-] Varesti@lemmy.zip 20 points 2 days ago

Scrooge McNuggets

[-] insanemantis@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

When you eat the rich, go French with Scrooge McDuck à l'Orange

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

i ordered peking mcduck

[-] nerdo@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago

Unrealistic because the duck is actually hot. Maxwell is disgusting inside and out

[-] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 1 day ago

This is also funny cuz “Goof” is a Canadian regional prison slang for “Child Molester.”

Scrooge would have sold Epstein out for a dull nickel.

[-] Th4tGuyII@fedia.io 17 points 2 days ago

Yeah, you don't get to Scrooge McDuck levels of money by being friendly. He absolutely would've sold out Epstein then made his own island, because the money bin doesn't fill itself.

[-] chunk6235@piefed.social 12 points 1 day ago

Sure, until you realize that Goofrey has videos of Scrooge alone and undressing in front of multiple gosslings... There's a reason Goofrey was able to life the life he had openly and without getting slapped around by the system.

[-] psycotica0@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 day ago

We'll, he's rich sure. But would he have paid even a red cent to visit an island resort?

He was more of the "stay at home, swim in pile of gold" rich.

[-] mirshafie@europe.pub 8 points 1 day ago

Jeffrey Epstein's talent was to offer the things that powerful people wanted. Some of them wanted a secluded island where they could molest children. Others wanted book clubs with Nobel prize winners or famous writers.

Epstein would have tried to figure out something that appealed to Scrooge's sensibilities, like maybe an audience with a dumb charismatic TV personality who's running for president and that owes him a favor or two.

[-] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

Epstein would have dangled treasure maps to some long lost ancient artifact guarded by terrible curses and venomous snakes.

Scrooge has a weakness, and it's in almost every episode.

[-] BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 27 points 2 days ago

Only in America can super rich characters like Scrooge, Richie Rich, Batman be the protagonists we are supposed to cheer for

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

Tony Stark, too.

Though even with that propaganda, it doesn't seem to be aging well.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

IMHO it's the deliberate Musk parallels

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Or that he was in one of them, written as if he had anything useful to contribute rather than reflecting the truth of how his companies have people whose job it is to manage him when he shows up so that he doesn't fuck things up with his orders. But yeah, Tony Stark himself is basically billionaire competence and morality propaganda. Entertaining propaganda but a lot of propaganda is these days.

[-] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Maybe that's because I mostly read the Italian Disney comicbooks (they had the same style as this image) but I always thought Scrooge was aupposed to be a greedy, cruel prick who usually gets his commeupins at the end?

[-] snooggums@piefed.world 17 points 2 days ago

They softened that image in the US by having him adopt his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie in a cartoon.

[-] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

The comic books also have these characters. Scrooge is an asshole to the nephews most of the time

Artist or slop? I like the joke but I have a bad feeling about the pixels

[-] ThreeKnew@lemdro.id 9 points 1 day ago

From a reverse image search, it seems to originate from @ATOMIKSAIKO on Twitter, who seems to be a real artist.

[-] BreadOven@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago
