my advice is to

  1. guide her to walk down different street to avoid them.
  2. reenforce to her that she did nothing wrong, and 3 remind her of societal dangers of females dealing with groups of dudes.
they're like angry apes. with guns and patience. we can argue about equality and women's rights and all that but bottom line is a young female is, unfortunately, a vulnerable target in certain scenarios. she has to be aware of her risk vectors to react better.

also, did you read the rules of this community?

[-] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 6 points 3 days ago

I apologize, I hadn't read the rules, or even realized what community I was in.

1b. Encourage her to walk in groups when possible

[-] starchylemming@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

That's solid advice

People this unhinged are potentially dangerous.

Teach her about the great equalizer imo

[-] UnpopularCrow@lemmy.world 33 points 3 days ago

Not practical, but take their picture, look them up on social media and expose them to their family, workplace, and friends.

[-] o8bepbua9@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago

Even if you can't find them online, taking their picture might help by itself. When people know they are being recorded they often change their behavior.

Or it might trigger a confrontation. I would avoid it unless the confrontation is already started.

Good advice for any bystanders though. Film those fuckers.

A child shouldn't risk escalation imo

[-] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Seems pretty practical.

Shun the men in your life who behave like this. Don't watch media that shows it as romantic or funny.

And yeah, if it's safe, yell at the men.

(Eta: this is directed to the adults, not the child)

Unfortunately I don't think there's anything the child or the parent could do in this situation that doesn't risk escalation to something violent.

The real solution is for society as a whole to stop tolerating this shit behaviour and call it out when they see it. "You're wolf-whistling at a kid, Dave. Are you in the fucking Epstein files or something?"

[-] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

But I think the biggest problem with this is that most people dont have someone insightful in their lives who will tell them that last sentence after they say or do some f'd up sh1t to a woman or young girl who just wants to mind their own business.

THATS why the majority of Epsteinites have gotten away with what they did and continue to get away with what they did. We know who they are ...and.... we havent done anything as a repurcussion for their sins sadly....

Tell her to say "I'm 13 you pervert. I guess women your own age won't have anything to do with you".

[-] forkDestroyer@infosec.pub 17 points 3 days ago

Honestly I wouldn't recommend interacting with them when alone, in the event that they're looking for a step to harass further.

Best case scenario they take the comment and reflect on it.

Worst case scenario could be life changing trauma if the people are unstable

[-] ZDL@lazysoci.al 9 points 3 days ago

Assault statistics suggest this is not a good technique, as satisfying as it may sound.

[-] tigermountain@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I say it somewhat jokingly.

Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.
