Tiny Denver! (lemmy.nz)

On my flight back to Colorado I took a nice enough picture of Denver and thought it would look great if it was tiny. Using Snapseed I tried to add tilt shift and adjust the filters, contrast, etc. so it looks close and tiny. My mom is giving me all her cameras and lenses for Christmas apparently so photo editing is something I should start working on.

My plan is to take my own reference photos to paint as well.

Below is the original photo.

Does this count as art?

Its so interesting how our brains see a limited focal range and naturally assume 'small'.

Like sure giraffes natural instincts are walking after 10 min or whatever, but our instincts are just "really good at imagining things" and somehow that made us global apex predators.

Long story short this is a cool ass photo, and I love the perspective it pushed me towards.

I love the idea, the photo also kinda looks surreal in the first place

It does! I like taking pictures from the plane because I love the scale of things and how our perception changes based on our frame of reference. I've never tried to do anything with them other than just enjoy the them for myself.

I'm not really happy with the colors. Advice? I can see it looks more like a filter than it's close but what would I do in a tool to fix it? I played with color scale, contrast, brightness, etc. and it just looks filtered instead of close to me.

Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

NSFW Policy: Nudity and suggestive content has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity or suggestive content, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity or suggestive content that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude or suggestive subject matter. If you aren't sure if your work is NSFW or not, just ask yourself, "Could I look at this at a typical office job and not get into trouble?" If you're still not sure after that, you should probably mark it as NSFW just to be on the safe side.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.
