Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

We're going on a trip with the family soon (roadtrip around NZ), and will be driving a rental from Budget.

However, I am flying down a couple of days after my partner and her family, but I will be driving once I am down there. I have just read the Budget website, and it mentions that all additional drivers must be present at the time of picking up the vehicle.

I was wondering if anyones had experience of either:

  • Being added as an additional driver when not present (showing them a copy of your drivers license at time of pickup) or,
  • Being added at the Customer service kiosk later.

No but I would think that if you discuss it with them ahead of time you will be able to get yourself added at kiosk.

Yeah I would expect its probably about sighting the drivers license & whatnot; but give 'em a bell and see what they say.

What parts of New Zealand are you hitting up, and would you like any recommendations of things to do & see while you're on the road?

I'm a massive road-trip fan; my partner & I are working through all major (<15) State Highways, we've got only 3, 3A & 4 to do in the North Island, and SH1 south of Ashburton, SH6 south of Queenston, and SH8 from Alexandra south to go I think. Actually, i've done SH7 many times, but she has yet to experience it.

Friday!

I'm working right up to Christmas but others are starting to disappear. Around this time it normally goes one of two ways, either gets really quiet because no one is around wanting things, or gets really busy because there are less people to provide stuff.

Unsure which way it's going for me yet. Seems to alternate by day.

Same here, alternating between busy/quiet peaks. Today appears to be a quiet peak (famous last words) but it's a Friday so can't complain either way, got team lunch in the afternoon and drinks in the evening.

Ours seems to be alternating as well. People either look offended that we won't drop everything to get their stuff done, or offended that we would think they were that demanding.

One week to go!
